Mel Blanc

Biography

Mel Blanc is the legendary and probably most famous voice actor who ever lived. He was born on May 30th, 1908 in San Francisco, CA and started doing voicework on the radio in the 30s and 40s. In 1936 Mel started doing voices for the legendary Warner Bros. cartoons. He voiced basically every character from Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Slyvester, Tweety, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Taz, and many others. He took over as Elmer Fudd after Arthur Q. Bryan, giving Mel basically every Looney Tunes character. He also provided the voice of Mr. Spacely on the Jetsons and Barney and Dino on the Flintstones.
In 1961, Mel was involved in a car accident that put him in a coma. Mel said in his autobiography that his doctor asked Bugs to wake up in which Mel awoke and began talkin in Bugs voice. In Mel's later years he was the voice of Heathcliff. His last recording gigs were for Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Jetsons Movie.
Mel Blanc died on July 11, 1989. His death has saddened millions of cartoon fans because Mel was truely one of a kind.
