FernGully: The Last Rainforest

Movie Summary

Released: 1992
Ferngully is an ancient rainforest inhabited by animals and the rarest creatures of all...fairies. Humans used to coexist with them in harmony, but fled in fear when the spirit of destruction, Hexxus (Tim Curry) rose up from the volcano and nearly destroyed Ferngully. Most fairies believe that humans are extinct. The oldest and wisest fairy, Magi Lune trapped Hexxus in a tree long ago and is teaching a young fairy named Crysta her magical secrets. Crysta is more interested in having fun with her friends until a crazy bat named Batty Koda (Robin Williams) arrives in Fergully. He tells the fairies of how he escaped from a biology lab and was the subject of numerous experiments done by humans. Excited at the thought of meeting a real human, Crysta flies over to where she finds some human men marking trees for destruction and a "monster"-a machine called The Leveler- is destroying them. Crysta accidentally shrinks one of the humans, Zack, and rescues him from being "eaten by the monster". As she and Zack travel to Ferngully, he learns about the wonders and beauty of the world he was unknowingly erasing. Soon he and the fairies of Ferngully must unite against a terrible force: the tree in which Hexxus was imprisoned is cut down and newly released evil is controlling the Leveler...

Good movie, the sequel was fine. The Nostalgia Critic just doesn't see a classic when he sees one.
