Red Dragon was based on the same book, to my understanding...I remember seeing RD thinking "I've already seen this movie" but I was thinking of Manhunter.

actually, Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs, and Hanibal are all written by the same author. As far as i can recall this is one of William Petersons (William Gram)major motion pictures. Besides of course his acting in CSI as Gill Grisham.
