Real Genius

Movie Summary

Released: 1985
When a group of crazy college geniuses put their heads together, almost anything can happen. Hold on for a free-wheeling, uproarious look at just how much mischief a bunch of high IQers can concoct. Chris (Val Kilmer) is the top brain who just wants to party. Mitch (Gabe Jarret) is the 16 year old wiz kid, and Lazlo (Johnathan Gries), America's number one brain, literally lives in a world of his own... Chris' closet. Supposedly hard at work on a lab project, they still find time to turn the dorm into an ice skating rink, dismantle a nerd's car and re-assemble it in his room and throw a beach party in the auditorium complete with a lagoon and bikini-clad beauties. When the geniuses discover that their unscrupulous mentor, Professor Hathaway (William Atherton) has had them working on a secret weapon for the military, they plot an elaborate revenge. Their plan culminates in an incredible scheme that out-smarts the military and convinces the Professor that it doesn't pay to fool with REAL GENIUS!

Can't believe I'm the only person to make a comment here. Maybe because i was a brainchild myself. This movie was pretty cool, and the song at the end was perfect. "Everybody wants to rule the world...."

"What do you want?"
"World peace. But I don't think now's the time to discuss it."

OMG I love this movie!!! I will never get sick of watching it!

"Real Genius" is still a very great movie, well one of them to come out of the 1980s. Val Kilmer is superb as Chris Knight, a man who knows how to be spontanious and be smart. Gabe Jarret is a young great actor who played the roll of Mitch Taylor really well and William Atherton, who also starred in another great 1980s films "Ghostbusters" and "Die Hard" plays the roll of Dr. Jerry Hathaway wonderfully.

This movie to this day still makes me laugh, it shows that being smart is a great thing and that you don't have to be ashamed of yourself and not let others get you down.

Oh man. This movie is still pretty entertaining. Mostly cause it sucks. But in a good way. Val Kilmer's lack of sideburns was horrible. And Mitch was the worst kid ever in a movie. Oh yeah, and the creepy guy that lived in mitch's closet was uncle rico from napoleon dynamite.
