A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

Movie Summary

Released: 1988
I like to think of this movie as “the second hour and a half of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 3.’” Aside from some new actors and actresses, the sequel is outwardly similar to its predecessor: in story and cinematography. Although Freddy is dead and buried in the waking world, he’s still very much alive in the dreams of the three remaining Elm street children: Kristen, Joey, and Kincaid. If you’re familiar with the entire franchise, you’d know that this is exactly what Freddy needs to be resurrected. Unfortunately for our anti-hero, he can’t continue his work once he’s acquired all the souls of his initial targets. This is where Alice Johnson comes in. She processes a very special birthright: to guard the bodies and souls of sleeping children while in their dreams. Freddy uses this to his advantage. With the powers of her currently deceased friends, she battles her arch-nemesis before he can invade the dreams of every child in Springwood.

As the Nightmare films went on, they became less scary. Still, this is one of the best in the series.
