The Wizard of Oz

Movie Summary

Released: 1939
Dorothy Gale of Kansas was swept away with her farm house into a magical land by a tornado. She is on a journey to the Land of Oz, to seek for the Wizard to help her get back to her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. While on the journey to Oz, she meets three people and befriends a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion. The Wicked Witch of the West, also Dorothy's neighbor, puts a stop for her to be back in Kansas for she has the Ruby Slippers, which the Good Witch of the North gave to her as her own protection. When she reached the land of Oz, the Wizard forgot to bring with him Dorothy, but the Good Witch of the North helped her to get back to Kansas.

This classic movie was first aired on CBS in 1956 and continued to air as a CBS Movie Presentaion until its last airing on CBS in 1998 when Warner Bros. bought the rights to all MGM movies contracted under Turner Entertainment. As of 1999, it airs on all three channels ran by Ted Turner and Time Warner; TBS, TNT, and TCM.

I just got the 3-Disc Collectors Edition of The Wizard of Oz on DVD. For many years we had The Wizard of Oz taped off CBS back in the late 80s. Yeah we also taped the 80's commercials along with it. In fact we still have that video tape and it's still in good condition.

Fellow Ozians. Traditon as traditons go in my family is this during Thanksgiving we watched the Wiard of Oz. When I was little I rooted for Dorthy to kill the witch. I loved Glinda the Good Witch of the North. And was frighten of The Wicked Witch of the West. But Recently I've read a book by a man named, Gregroy Maguire. It's called WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. And I've also seen the play based on the book. And both show that the witch was not wicked. It was the Wizard that was wicked. So now I cheer for The Witch. I mean come on we all have a little wickedness in us. so Yeah Elphaba The Wicked Witch of the West and long live Nessa the Wicked Witch of the East.(The little sister of the witch)
