You can easily see that we're entering a new age of animation. But some of the early pixar animated movies were pretty good. I'm talking about Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Incredables. But after a while, they started becoming ridicolous. If you've ever seen Movie Surfers, they always start out "Here's another Disney COMEDY from Pixar." Everything's comedy now. Nothing's going to show meaning or true facts of life. Cars is no big help either. I like some parts but when the two female cars started waving out their tongues when Lightning Mqueen passed by in the race, it sends a sexual message.
I just can't believe Disney is going down the creek with these cheap movies. They think their guniesses for making movie sequels but they're not. Jungle Book 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, Dumbo 2, Bambi 2, Cinderella 2, The Little Mermaid 2, Peter Pan 2, 101 Dalmations 2, The Fox and the Hound 2, The Lion King 2, Toy Story 2. I even heard they'll be making Oliver and Company 2 and Aristocats 2 soon. What's even tougher is that Walt Disney created some of those movies and didn't plan on making sequels. I just say if you didn't create the movie or if you didn't get permission from the real owner, you shouldn't make a sequel out of their movie. Other companies even make remakes of movies! What? They ran out of ideas and they try to make a better version of older movies. Pathetic. They even messed up Pinocchio in making Pinocchio 3000. He's a robot now instead of a puppet for pete's sake! Thankfully it wasn't Disney that created the movie. The same with Transformers The Movie coming out in 2007. It's not going to be animation, it's going to be reality with the Transformers put in with computer graphics. Here's the BIG difference between the two movies.
It's the hard truth. I'm sure if Walt Disney was alive today, he probably wouldn't be able to save Disney after all of what happened. But some of the early disney animations like The Lion King, Mulan, Pocahantas, and Aladdin were beautifully done since some parts were still hand drawn. I think it started from when Tarzan started the revolution of completely computer animated movies and up to full reality animation. Home On the Range was the last cartoon movie. Now Disney's all slick and the crew workers just make movies, being in a competition for money. Then again, why make a 75 thousand dollar movie when you only get 50 thousand dollars in return from people wanting to watch it? All I'm saying is, it would be nice to have a few cartoon movies like Tarzan or Lilo and Stitch even if it's all computer animated. People will soon get tired about the same animation skills like Pixar's. If they had cartoon and computer animated movies together, that would be pleasing to me and others who feel the same way on where Disney's going now.
Here's the legacy on how Disney changed slowly.
A Disney original, everything was painted and hand-drawn. Lasted from 1930's to 1960's.
Still hand drawn but the characters were sketched out with pencil. Lasted from 1960's to 1980's.
Using a bit of computer graphics and a few drawn out backgrounds. Lasted from late 1980's to 2000.
Computer used 100% but still in cartoon form. Lasted from 2000's to 2004.
A complete Pixar production with now cartoon styles. Started from 2005 to now.
It's hard to believe that Disney is still even called Disney. By now we all would have thought it would have been called Pixar. With Toon Disney, they got rid of almost all of their old cartoons and put up Jetix. No more Goof Troop, Aladdin, or any other classic disney cartoons. But out of surprise, Disney Channel took in
Timon and Pumbaa the series and Buzz Lightyear. It's hard to believe but I say that Disney Channel is going to be the new Toon Disney. Right now, I say Disney Channel is going into the right path for Disney entertainment. I just hope in the future that Disney will make a few more cartoon movies like the ones in the 90's and going down.
