Jim Henson Associates & Lucasfilm Ltd. Present -- Labyrinth.

The Goblin King in his owl form keeps his eyes on a teenage women in her costume.

Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is a teenager who has a great imagination about being in her own world, based off the book of "Labyrinth" that she holds in her hands. Unknowing that it's 7:00 and she's an hour late for reluctantly babysitting her baby step-brother, Toby (Toby Froud) while her father (Christopher Malcolm) and step-mother (Shelley Thompson) go out to dinner and won't be back until midnight.

Sarah and her step-mother have a small arguement because of her being late, wanting her to take care of Toby, and them wanting to go out to dinner.

Sarah is not happy that she's home alone with little Toby who won't stop crying. So she tries to settle him down by saying a story about her "evil step-mother" who made her stay home to take care of him. And also mentions in her story about a world of goblins and the King of the Goblins who gave her a power of taking the baby away, turn him into a goblin, and keep him forever and ever. But little did she know that the goblins and the Goblin King were listening to her and what she asked them to do.

Meanwhile the Goblins were waiting for Sarah to say the right words to take baby Toby away from her. After Sarah says the right words which were "I wish the goblins would come and take you away right now," she no longer hears Toby crying in his crib after she turns off the light and leaves.

Then a minute or so later the Goblin King himself, Jareth (David Bowie) arrives to the bedroom window with his goblins hiding in various areas of the bedroom. Sarah asks to have Toby back and Jarath's responce to her was "What's said is said." Then encourages her to go to her room and play with her toys and costumes.

Jareth brings Sarah a gift. Which is a crystal that would show all of her dreams. She loves the offer, but she wants Toby back more then her dreams. Jareth warns Sarah not to defy him and that she is no match for him. Sarah still requests to have Toby back.

Jareth points and shows where Toby is. Which is in his castle surounded by a labyinth. Before he leaves Sarah he reminds her that it's further then she thinks and that she has 13 hours to solve the labyrinth. Otherwise Toby will be turned into a goblin and become one of them forever.

Along the way of Sarah's adventure through the labyrinth to save Toby from Jareth, she comes across many different characters who live in various areas of the labyrinth.

Characters of Labyrinth:

Hoggle.

Fairies.

Eyes.

A Worm.

One of four Gate Keepers who gaurd the gate that heads to the castle of the center of the labyrinth while the other gate leads to... CERTIAN DEATH!

Helping Hands

False Alarms.

Wise Old Man.

Ludo.

Door Knockers.

The Fieries Fire Gang.

Sir Didymus.

Old Junk Lady.

After Sarah comes across many different characters that live around the labyrinth, she and her friends who joined her on her journey, including Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus enter Goblin City and head for Jareth's castle at the center of the labyrinth to save little Toby.

Once they are in Jareth's castle, Sarah requests that she must face Jareth alone since thats the way she believes it should be done. But they reminded Sarah if she needs them, then call them. However she only had a few minutes before her 13 hour period was over.

Sarah enters a room which is nothing but stairsteps everywhere!

She comes across Jareth, who is singing and telling her that everything he's done he has done it all for her.

While Jareth is singing Sarah sees Toby across the room.

After trying to get to Toby in the stair room, it seems that Sarah has one more chance to confront Jareth. Sarah tells Jareth to give her Toby. Jareth tells Sarah that he has been generious since the beginning, since Sarah did ask to have Toby be taken away. Jareth makes one more offer on giving Sarah the crystal that shows her all of her dreams. Then Sarah realizes that Jareth had no power over her. After she says the words "You have no power over me" it just turned 13:00. Then Jareth disapeared and changed back into his owl form and flew away.

She reapears in her living room and her clock says 12:00 and she runs up the stairs, into Toby's bedroom and sees Toby deep asleep. And she covers him up with his blanket and leaves the room just a few moments before her father and step-mother are back.

After Sarah leaves Toby's bedroom, she goes to her bedroom and looks into her mirror and sees everyone that she came across while solving the labyrinth.

And so Jareth was back into his owl form and left Sarah by flying away from her bedroom window and into the moonlight.

THE END.

The only two talents who are still alive are just George Lucas and David Bowie. Let's hope them two will read this article that I did for us movie lovers who love all of George Lucas's movies, Jim Henson's movies, and/or David Bowie's music. In other words Labyrinth fans.

In July of 2005 George Lucas was awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award. They talked about every movie George Lucas has worked on except one. Labyrinth! However they only showed the scene of Labyrinth when you see Jareth swoop the edge of the platform in the stair room. It would have been awsome if David Bowie did show up to George Lucas's ceremony of winning the 2005 AFI Life Achievement Award.

However a year before George Lucas's ceremony, David Bowie... actually his character Jareth had an idea to run for President of the United States of America during the 2004 election between George W. Bush/Dick Chenney and John Kerry/John Edwards. Jareth only got the votes from goblins and all other characters who were in the movie of Labyrinth. Who knows? Maybe he will plan on running again in 2008, 2012 or any of the upcomming years of presidential elections later on in the future.

"I, Tim of Lincoln, Nebraska (USA) have enjoyed watching Labyrinth everytime I've watched it. I remember when I was like three years old our family either rented or borrowed both The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. At the time I knew The Dark Crystal, but I couldn't remember what the name of the second movie was called. Then in 1999, I was watching The Oddesy Network, which is now The Hallmark Channel, I watched The Dark Crystal and after that was Labyrinth. Then I thought to myself 'I remember this movie!' So after that I kept the name of that movie in mind. Then a couple years later I see it on HBO and this time I saw the opening credits and I remember thinking to myself 'George Lucas did this?' Because I never remember seeing the opening credits of the movie until I saw it on HBO. Then in 2004 I find both The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth on DVD and buy them at my local Wal*Mart. I love the Special Features on the DVD of Labyrinth. But I think that the next time there is a DVD release to Labyrinth, there should be new interviews and a new feturette with George Lucas, David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, Brian Henson, Toby Froud, and to whomever worked with Jim Henson on Labyrinth. Other special features I would like to see on a newer DVD release of Labyrinth is a Music Commentary when you only listen to the music score by Trevor Jones and songs by David Bowie. There should also be an Audio Commentary with George Lucas, David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, Brian Henson, and Toby Froud. Another idea that I thought of was having Labyrinth re-released to theaters. If Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi were re-released to theaters back in 1997 and THX 1138 re-released to theaters back in 2004, then why not re-release Labyrinth to theaters? Anyway on June 27th, 2006 it will be the 20th Anniversary of Jim Henson's and George Lucas's movie adventure of Labyrinth. So be ready when it comes. I know I will be."

Happy 20th Anniversary -- June 27th, 2006.
