Megaman Fan For Life: a comic By: Pat Henzy
Article Score: 39

Hi everyone! This is the second article I have written for retrojunk. In all fairness it is not really an article at all, it is a comic. My previous comic was titled "My Mario 3" memories (if you haven't checked that one out please scroll back a few pages and check that one out first, this will be waiting for when you come back)... I didn't know how it would be received on retrojunk but I was ecstatic when it received generally good reviews/feedback. Because of this I decided to work on a second comic. For the "Mario 3" comic I mostly used pen and ink and flat colors that I "painted in" using photo-shop. For this comic however I decided to try all kinds of different things. For instance I scanned the grip-tape from my skateboard for the street that "Mega-me" is standing on for the cover page. I used markers, crayons, acrylic paint, cut paper, photo manipulation and found material to make this comic (the piece of wood used for the background of the page with Megaman, a met and a bat I had found by the dumpster of my apartment). For the pic of Dr. Wily I used the palm of my hand for his face, my fiances eyes, one of my shirts for his shirt, and my fiances friend's brown hair I turned grey and used it for his hair. I started working on this about 3 weeks after I finished the Mario 3 comic... between work, school,Resident Evil 5,Call of Duty 4,having a short story and two comics printed in a literary magazine, and anything else that would distract me I worked on it whenever I found the free time. It took me about 2 to 3 months or so to complete. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you enjoyed this comic as much as I enjoyed making it. I am so glad I found this website, I love reading all the great articles that people post and I love that it gives me a creative outlet to show my work to people that like what I do! THANKS a ton! (Now I am going to go work on finally beating Ninja Gaiden 2 for Xbox 360 and deciding if my next comic should be about Castlevania 3(which I received after 2 jaminators that I got for Christmas broke), getting Sonic 2 and a genesis for Christmas or something entirely different). Any suggestions?

Here are two additional comics that I drew after playing Megaman 9 for the first time...

Oh... and just in case you need to compare my Megaman 2 box to the official one... here it is, I dare you to tell me that whatever is going on with his ankle looks natural! I dare ya!

Till next time true believers! - Pat Henzy

I was coming up with some concept drawings for a Mega Man movie and I thought about this article. It reminded of how I became hooked on the "Blue Bomber" - my older cousin rented Mega Man 2 and brought it over after church. I was hooked. I would always draw the bosses (my 7-8 year old mind thought most of them resembled Air Man), and I wouldn't be satisfied until I had a Mega Man game other than the Tiger Electronic one. I got the first Mega Man and wasn't convinced it was him until I looked at the back of the box. I missed some of the NES and SNES games, but thanks to the Anniversary Collections I can relive my childhood.
Thanks for the memories, man!
