The year was 1995, my mom and dad came up with a new rule for me that year, I was only allowed to watch 2 hours of t.v. a day. By that time in my life all the cartoons where reruns the disney afternoon, animaniacs, tiny toons etc. I had to choose very carefully, I turned on the t.v. and there was Bill Nye the Science guy on pbs, I was hooked.
It was funny and interesting and who could ever forget the mock music videos from the "soundtrack of science". I liked Bill Nye alot and to this day it is my dream to meet him.
I own 5 vhs tapes of his show each with 2 episodes so that's only 10 shows out of 100. They have the whole series on dvd but it costs $2,000! It's mainly for schools but come on $2,000 that's crazy.
So thats 30 minutes , I still had 1.5 hours.
Next to come on after Bill Nye was Wishbone, also on pbs. The main character, the talking dog Wishbone, lives with his owner Joe Talbot in the fictional modern town of Oakdale, Texas. As he daydreams about being the lead character of stories from classic literature, drawing parallels between the stories and events in the lives of Joe and his friends, he was known as "the little dog with a big imagination".
The show follows his daydreams, as Wishbone (usually dressed in human clothing) acts out a famous story from literature or folklore. Only the viewers and the characters in his daydreams can hear Wishbone speak (and furthermore, the characters from his daydreams see Wishbone as whatever famous character he is currently portraying and not as a dog). A good show all the way around. Both shows Bill Nye and wishbone are educational. What can I say I'm a nerd.
So that's 1 hour, only 1 hour left.

Star Trek the next generation
I always loved watching the original star trek and this show was above and beyond the original. The opening cgi effects where light years before their time. The thing I liked most about this show was that each episode was a story in itself. I t wasn't one long story biulding up throughout the season, like 24, lost, or any of those other shows.
The plot?
The episodes follow the adventures of the crew of the Galaxy-class USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D.As the United Federation of Planets flagship, the Enterprise is designed for both exploration and diplomacy but is capable of, and formidable in, battle when necessary.
Patrick Stewart's voiceover during each episode's opening credits was patterned after that of the original series, but the phrase "continuing mission" replaces Star Trek's "five year mission", and the gender-neutral phrase "no one" replaces "no man":
“ Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before. ”
The Enterprise's crew contact and discover many races and species with whom they interact as a means for exploring the "human" condition. Dramatic devices such as time travel or temporal loops, natural disasters, holodeck malfunctions, and other internal and external conflicts often occur without alien encounters, though these, too, are used to explore issues of humanity.
So after my 2 hours I went to do homework or play with legos, my ninja turtles or star wars guys. I look back on those 2 hours as time well spent. What I wouldn't give to relive those days again.
