Sonic The Hedgehog

Hi, its me again. ever since i finally learned how to get pictures onto an article, i figured i should make another article. and as you can see, this one is about sonic the hedgehog.
on 1991,sega genisis figured that they should get a mascot for thier game system, like nintendo had thier fat plumber, mario. And thus, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG was born.

sonic took the world by storm. at the time the only video game heros around were plumbers who rescued princesses and who battled turtle kings. so when sonic the hedgehog came around, people were pretty happy for a change. in 1991, this screen came to peoples screens.

this may not seem like an incredible breakthrough in videogaming in todays society, but at the time this was a miracle. people everywhere were flocking to get themselves a sega, and play as the wondrous blue hedghog who could run faster than mario ever could.

it was truly amazing. then in 1992, the fun continued as sonic 2 came into the market.
this was an amazing game. this game also introduced tails, my most favourite character in the sonic saga. (no pun intended.)

in 1994 sega released its last 2 good sonic games. sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles.

after that sonic got worse and worse. sonic games were appearing more on other systems and less on sega systems, and sonic became an idiot. have you checked out any recent sonic material? sonic looks like he is off some japenese comic, and i have heard nowadays that sonic t.v shows dont even focus on him anymore, but on some of thier other characters, such as cream the rabbit, and amy rose. if you ask me, these characters dont belong in sonics world. the shows also reduce sonic and tails to appeal to very small children as they act like nothing but spoiled arrogant children. i mean, even robotnick is not the same anymore. called mr eggman now, i believe.
when do you think sonic looked the best? i would have to say classic. i believe many of you would say so too.
well, theres not much i can say, becouse i think i made my point. so see ya, until next time.

Good article, but begging to get it not sent to the back pages is a little childish.

I agree with what you said. Those were all indeed great games. You could have talked a little more about the Sonic games that followed those games so we can see Sonic's downfall.

I give you thumbs up for the effort nonetheless.

Sega may of had one mascot that stood the test of time, yes, I know where your coming from on that. But you're all forgetting that Sega was still in the console market long before Sonic the Hedgehog would ever appear. The Sega Master System may of tanked compared to the NES, but it had it's share of good games as well. There is an article on that in the archives if you want to read it.

But there was a mascot for Sega during the glory days of the NES, and that was Alex Kidd. But the problem was that he didn't appeal to a large enough audience and that his games were very different from each other. So when Sonic appeared it gave them an edge over Nintendo to be a worthy competitor. I still see that many of you fail to notice that Sega, despite having only one favorable icon, had good games for the Genesis as well. Streets of Rage 2, Toejam & Earl, Gunstar Heroes, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star, and even Golden Axe were great games that helped propell the Genesis. Some of these characters could of been alongside Sonic as mascots, but they never received the recognition as they should have.

Sonic may be a big part of a company that was always the underdog, but during his glory days that was the time to get serious and consider that Nintendo wasn't so powerful after all. Although it was very sad to see Sega fall apart in the 32/64-bit era and release the Dreamcast only to lead them to their desmise and forcing them to drop out of the console race in 2001.

yeah, im sorry that this article wasent very good, the only reason i wrote this piece was becouse i finally found out how to get pictures onto an article, so the main point of writing this was to test out my ability to get pictures on an article. i wasent really expecting for it to stay on the front page, but you can see by my end comment that i still wanted it there. next time i write an article ill start writing something worth reading

It seems you didn't really research this much at all. No matter what version you look at or which version you play, it's always going to be aimed at kids. As a matter of fact, Sonic, in the original, curses. It's cut out here. In Sonic Battle, there was an "English option" for that game (originally), and Sonic curses for it. He cusses in Sonic X too.

That aside, you also showed that you didn't know that "Dr. Eggman" is Robotnik's original name for the series. Robotnik is the dub name, but after a while, they started going back and forth between both.

Ironically, when playing the first Sonic game as a kid, I used to say, "Robotnik looks like a big egg with clothes." Pure irony, eh?

The old sonic games are by far better than the newer ones. The xbox 360 sonic is shocking such a missed opportunity. The original games will forever be classics. Sega when are you gonna stop producin such crap and start making classics again?
