Toon Disney over the years By: dmastre411
Article Score: 16

When Toon Disney first launched I was unaware of how great it was. Then in 2001 I finally got cable and I was so excited. Since I was only 9 or 10 at the time I didn't really know about Disney Cartoons. After all I wasn't born in the 80's. One day while flipping through the channels I came across Toon Disney. I was hooked. I used to stay up all night to watch the classic shows. I don't know what it was but I fell in love with the cartoons. I think it was the creativity and the style each one had. Ducktales was my favorite it makes you feel so good watching it.

So my mom decides to cut off my cable later in 2001 so I wasn't really mad. I thought that when my mom was ready to get cable again Toon Disney would be there waiting. Ok lets fast forward four years. In 2005 I finally got my cable back. I was so excited I got Toon Disney back.

I finally tuned the remote to Toon Disney and I knew there was something different about it. I kept watching and watching and couldn't see Ducktales, Darkwing Duck etc. I found out they were removed. My first question was why. I did some research and found that a new block was added called Jetix. How horrible. I kind of felt betrayed by Disney.

Evey year after that Toon Disney got worse and worst. The channel that was intended for classic and new Disney cartoons now it had non Disney cartoons. Toon Disney kept adding dumb Disney Channel shows and dumb Jetix shows. It is betrayal. Nickelodeon has an Exclusive classic channel and hasn't Jump the shark and I don't think it will because they stayed true. I couldn't say the same for Toon Disney.

Now its fall of 2006 and Jetix becomes exclusive to Toon Disney. I was mad. Toon Disney was my favorite channel. How could they do that? It seems kind of selfish but I know other kids feel the same way. Even though I'm 15 and I still enjoy those classics. I'll never get bored of them and now I can't even see them unless I buy a DVD. That's wrong.

In November of 2006 Toon Disney added the Mega Jam block. This block was amazing. Every Friday a classic would be shown. The first one was Goof Troop. The rating were probably so good that on January 15, 2007 it was added to the lineup. How great was that. This also happened to Tale spin, Chip n Dale and Winnie the Pooh. I was excited Toon Disney is becoming great again.
It's bringing them back.

Another good thing about this is that Toon Disney is giving Jetix one less hour. That's great. If we loyal viewers who love the Disney classics want to see change watch Toon Disney every Fridays and maybe the The Disney Afternoon will return.

I only liked Toon Disney from 1998-2001. That's when they had the Disney Afternoon shows and classic shorts unedited. I didn't even watch it all the time, just like twice a month, when I was bored. I stopped watching it around 2002 since they started editing their shows and removed the classic shorts.

I personally think there are too many articles complaining about how much Toon Disney sucking now.

Good thing for you, some of these shows are on DVD.

Well, they're showing Aladdin, Goof Troop, Talespin, and Chip 'n Dale RR now. Except you probably won't see them unless you have a TiVo, because of school.

To mlw1984: The problem with the dvds (and the Warner Bros. shows) is that they release two or three volumes of their shows and stop right there. Gargoyles and Animaniacs are perfect examples of the dvd problems.
