Dragon Ball(1986 - 1989)

Dragon Ball is an anime based off a weekly manga series written by Akira Toriyama. The anime first aired on February 26, 1986. The plot is loosely based on the Japanese story of the Monkey King, Journey To the West. Goku, a small boy with a monkey-like tail,tremendous strength, and a magical bo staff becomes friends with a teenage girl named Bulma who needs his help to search for seven magical orbs known as the Dragon Balls. When all seven balls are gathered together, an ancient, all-powerful dragon will come forth to grant the summoner any wish they so choose. They meet many new friends and foes on their way and their journey turns out to be much bigger than they expected. The story of Dragon Ball was continued in the form of Dragon Ball Z in 1989.
