Bright Lights, Big City(1988)

Writer Jamie Conway (Michael J. Fox) seeks escape from family and romantic problems through the decadence of the late-80s New York club scene. His relationship with model Amanda (Phoebe Cates) is fucked up beyond all repair and he frequently thinks about his dead mother. Eventually Jamie must make a choice: Drink, drug and fuck himself into an early grave, or get his writing career back on track?
