Even thought this show scared the you know what out of me when I was a kid I loved it. All of the different situations that Karl Kolchak the bumbling reporter got into made the show wonderful. With Simon Oakland as Karls hardcore boss he also helped to make the show a success. The remake was a joke, I watched half of the first episode and turned it. Nothing like the original. I think that Darren McGavin has passed on which is a pity. He is the only true Karl Kolchak.

This show was a big influence on Chris Carter creating "The X-Files".

The vampire episode was my favorite. When Kolchak opens the fridge and they show the blood in the that creeped me out. You never knew when the vampire would pop up. Was it in the house?? In the yard?? Great suspense.

This was a great series that aired on the alphabet network. I have the DVD which has all episodes un-cut and without Cal Worthington or Mr. Whipple to disrupt your viewing. Darren McGavin was great, I also own two seersucker suits which are like the one on the series.

on special effects, but still managed
to intrest many with its story lines
    and weird hummor. great show,
watched one of the new sucked,
had NOTHING in common with the original,
and was a waste of time.
