gasp! i've watched shining time station! daaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off! that's what i'd say, then ask mom to turn to channel 11 (in san diego), and set the alarm for about 9 or 10 (IDK what time it came on), so i could first watch TPIR, then arrive in shining time station to depart with Thomas.

    bigaint2 Posted 5 years 10 months ago
I didn't watch this show very often as a kid, but saw a few episodes later in life. Instead of relying on artificial happiness, like the god-awful Barney & Friends, or on bright colors, like the Teletubbies, it relies on intelligent playing and problem solving. The train theme is nice. It almost alludes to the more peaceful time in history, when railroads, not highways, were the main means of travel.

I loved this show when I was little. My dad was a train lover when he was a kid so when he found out he was having a daughter he was a little disappointed. As he imagined I liked Barbie way more than Thomas but he found this show on PBS for me to try and he could enjoy the stories about Trains and I loved the kids and Mr. Conductor. I even gave in to buying the Metal Thomas Trains which now are collectors items. I will never forget the memories that this show gave me with my dad.

I loved this show I watched it all the time. Now they took out the real people and It's just called Thomas and Friends. My little cousins have those books. One of the little guys was showing me a picture book. and I reconized the charecters. witout really thinking I said "Oh look It's Sir Topemhat" and needless to say I suddenly became a hero to my little cousins because I knew the charecters.
    PirateNinja6 Posted 7 years 1 month ago
Man, I remember this show...The should bring it back, or at least on DVD... My children(If I ever have/get any) will probably never see this wonderful show, or the times where they didn't make up crappy stories, and used the ones the Rev. Awdry wrote, well most of the time they did.

Who'd have thought... George Carlin... one of the most foul mouthed comedians in America... used to do something like this and narrate Thomas the Tank Engine
Mariogamer Posted 7 years 8 months ago
I did remember this as a kid in the 90's. it was back on TV on nick J.R in 2000-2000.

Remember that guy who was always after peoples' nickels? What was his name?

But yeah they definitely need to air this show again. Kids today are missing out.

KFCLOVER Posted 8 years 4 months ago
I recall watching this great show from the mid 1990s to the late 1990s. Although I'm 15 I still like Thomas and I always will. By the way Rev. W. Awdry, the creator of these books died at age 85 in 1997.

    RIP Wilbert Awdry 1911-1997
Roadgeek Posted 8 years 8 months ago
I love(d) this show. What I'd give to see it again. What sticks out the most are the Thomas the Tank Engine segments and the jukebox. Remember watching the coin going down the jukebox?
Strykor Posted 8 years 9 months ago
To answer the question of trekkie06, the answer is in the "Shining Time Station Christmas Special." Basically, the first Mr. Conductor was hired by Santa.
