    I fortunately stumbled upon the movie while flipping through the channels one evening a few years ago (I think it was on Retroplex). I find a lot of great older films this way.
    The real-life Billy Hayes said that the experience wasn't really as bad as the film leads you to believe, but I fully understand that when filmmakers base a movie on a true story, they have to dramatize to make the make the movie interesting to the audience.
    Sadly, the star, Brad Davis later developed a drug habit and contracted AIDS from using a dirty needle. He died in 1991 at age 41. Some of you may also remember him as "Ol' George" in the miniseries "Roots."
