I was 10 when I first watched in the GSC in 1979,now I have a ten year old boy and my life has come full circle.I cant believe how fast time goes by and how insignificant my life is outside my family.Cars,Houses,Money, things in general bring no real lasting joy, however,my memories of this show in the mornings as my mom got us ready for school means a lot more to me.I know every generation thinks thier childhood was the best but for me and my generation the mid 1970's until mid 1980's where the best time to be an American Kid,it was awesome to live in the USA in those years,I wish the same could be said today.

I loved this show, but was it regional? I grew up in NJ and my friends there remember it, but I now live in Virginia and nobody seems to know what I'm talking about here.

This show started in 1979. Coolest thing for me ever was meeting the composer of the theme song Anne Bryant, at JemCon 2009. I told her that this song was why I became a musician. Now in my 30s I can look back on this and say this is where if all began. If you are curious, Anne also wrote the theme song The Transformers More Than Meets The Eye (and she is credited in both live action movies) Jem "We Are The Misfits" version, and 99.99998 of the Jem, the Misfits, and The Stinger's songs from the series.

What was the names of the huggles? I thought they had individual names. I was in my 20s when I watched, I couldn't remember the name of it, but I thought I remembered the name M.T. Promises I googled it and that's how I found the name of the show. It was driving me crazy because I could remember the show but not the name of it. So does anyone remember the huggles names or am I remembering it wrong.

I was a big fan of this show also...but was surprised to learn that Ray Stephens, who played Roy on the show, was also the Policeman for the Village People on their 1985 album, "Sex Over the Phone". Bizarre!!

HELP from anyone! I'm not sure why this is happening to me, but I got a song stuck in my head and I know it came from the "Great Space Coaster" show. All I know of the song is, "Yes, I can. Suddenly, yes I can." I know on the show, they covered a lot of songs and some were even originals. Does anyone know if the song is an original or a cover? If it is a cover, who was the original singer?

    Thanks!

I'm so excited to have found this! I just watched clips of this show on YouTube and, wow, it brought back memories. For years now, I have been wondering what my memories were of a show with a freaky monkey guy, three people (I remembered the blond guy and the girl), and a yellow vehicle that flew into space. It was driving me crazy that no one knew what I was talking about. I must have been 5 or 6 years old when I watched this, which would have been around 1982 or 1983. I don't remember ever seeing this on TV again after that. Like many others, I didn't really understand what was going on in the show, but the intro song, the characters, and all of the colors have stuck in my mind for this long. I feel better now. Now I can relax! :)

Yeah, I'm having flashbacks too... I remember Speed Reader, but I don't recall Gary Gnu. I remember Baxter finding the 'huggles'? Their catch phrase in their into was something like, 'hey what's snappin'?' I think there was 3 of 'em too....?

I loved Roary the Lion who was notorious for being late for school. When he'd come in with his backpack all breathing heavy the whole class would be like, 'What's the story Roary?'. When one of my daughters come in whining about the other one I always think of that. It's funny the things you retain throughout your life...

I'm having major flashbacks here! I loved this show!

Wow! I had totally forgotten about this show! I remembered the theme when I saw it referenced on The Family Guy, but until I saw the clips on YouTube with Gary Gnu and Goriddle Gorrilla... jeez! I miss when you had a reason to wake up early on Saturday mornings... I used to love Galaxy High too...

I'm 30 years old and I seem to remember a show in the 80's where there were these little people that lived underground. It wasn't fraggle rock or the littles. Could there have possible been a cartoon short like this on maybe the great space coaster or something similiar. This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I WANT THIS SHOW TO COME BACK TO TELEVISION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! it is a show that can teach kids so much more than sesame street and any other show that's on television nowadays

No Gnuuuuuuus is good Gnuuuuuuuus With Gary Gnu!!

I loved this show as a kid. Roy had a great singing voice. Fran and Danny could sing too. I always wanted to have that little portable TV that Roy would pull out and show cartoons on it from time to time.

I knew I'd finally see this one day. I loved this show! I remember one episode in which the dude in the costume invented hamburgers that vanished if you didn't eat them fast enough. They learned that it wasn't fair to people who bought them or something. Oh and the speed reader, wow! Cry time!
jenniferswe Posted 7 years 8 months ago
I used to get up extra early to watch this show.
    RetroMetro1977 Posted 7 years 9 months ago
WOW! I remember the Great Space coaster like it was yesterday. I was a little too young to get the concept of the idea behind the show. The highlights of the program include the Gary Gnu Show and the moments where characters like Goriddle Gorilla or Knock Knock would view short cartoon movies on Roy's nifty little camera. As I said, WOW!

DAMN i remember this show... It was haunting me for longest. I used to watch it when i was little. And i remember the commercials they used to do for Tiger Cubs. I would of been 6 when the series ended. Wow. I have an outstanding memory but the title of this was eluding me.
    80sGuru Posted 8 years 8 months ago
I vaguely remember this show from when i was little.in 81 I would have been 5 years old, so i could have watched it anytime between 81 and 86. If i got to watch a whole episode i would probably remember it though.

oh and ridingthebomb, i think this is a Sid and Marty Croft type show, I am not sure whether they created this one though, but since it is a similar style there is no TELLING what they were on when they created this thing. probably peyote, LSD, pot, et al.
ridingthebomb Posted 8 years 9 months ago
I can only guess at the side effects this intro would have if it were viewed by someone who had just taken a dose of a mild hallucinogenic.

Then again -- I'm thinking the same thing for a lot of the intros for the shows I used to watch as a kid.

What were the creators of these shows on, anyway? Or were they just reformed hippies...?

ON THE GREAT SPACE COASTER GET ON BOARD. I USED TO LIKE THIS SHOW TOO. IT NEEDS TO COME ON TV LAND. TV LAND SHOULD SHOW OLD CARTOONS ON SATURDAYS INSTEAD OF GUNSMOKE RERUNS ALL DAY.
