Watching Monty Python on the New York PBS channel back in the seventies was a revelation and was huge influence on my then very middle class perspective of what was funny. I have to admit that some of Terry Gilliam cartoons gave me the creeps, especially the man pushing the baby carriage (or pram) and devouring any adoring person who came to close. Because of it's bizarre nature the show is still funny and not at all dated. Certainly among the funniest shows ever, with Fawlty Towers coming in at a close second. The surreal humor was an antidote for the junk I grew up with during that period of the seventies.

Way too radical for network channels in the early 1970's, in Southern California MPFC was then broadcast on PBS (KCET). The one-liners could (can still can) be repeated endlessly. And now for something completely different....

This show was classic, hands down. MPFC and Benny Hill where the best shows to come out of europe.

Oh yah! This show was awesome! This and the Black Adder were the only English comedies I could tolerate, but this was just too cool. I couldn't really tell you if the humor was intelligent because it was just too bizarre. I recommend you rent "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" if you want the best sample of this "wacky humor." Highly recommend it for anyone seeking something... different. Posted 12 years 7 months ago
dude the opening is sooo trippy i love it.
