I always loved this anime ever since i started to watch this show.

even though Pokémon gaved me alot of joy that i used to have back then, i prefered this one with an much stronger story than Pokémon's story. that's just my opinion though.

digimon is one of the best animes I have seen okay and it is so not a pokemon ripoff digimon was made first and unlike pokemon digimon has a different plot each season, the characters(to some extent)have depth to them, and the main characters don't(again to some extent)do the same thing every single episode!!!OK and while i do love digimon i must addmit the writers keep botching the show and while adventure 02 was just in a future setting to adventure 01 as shown in seasons 4 and 5(frontier and savers)they are losing touch with season 1 the season most people like more so than the other seasons i mean come on first digimon was what it is here a t.v show and card game(tamers)then the main characters turn in to the digimon and the focus was more on takuya and koji more than the other characters(frontier)and last but not least the digimon savers digimon king?frankly i have one word for that whole season BLEH!!!!nuff said
bobotheball Posted 8 years 1 month ago
Okay, first off, it is a common misconception that Digimon is a ripoff of Pokemon. Digimon started in japan in 1995 by Bandai to gear their line of Tamagotchi toys towards boys. These toys were released later in the US and became a huge hit. The show was created in 1999, and only 15 episodes were originally produced since Toei Animation and Bandai weren't sure how popular it would be, but ratings skyrocketed and 54 episodes were produced altogether.

I liked this show better than the Pokemon show due to it's dark, serious setting, complex plot, and action. Like the Pokemon show, the 1st season was the only good one. The second was meh, and I stopped after 3 episodes of the 3rd since it had nothing to do with the first two.

digimon is the best show:my favorite seasons are 1-3,now don't get me wrong i liked season 4 just not as much but season 5 not at all except for there is no goggle boy and no chosen one, also one more thing just to make it clear digimon and pokemon have 2 main simalaritys 1) both were made in japan. 2) the nonhuman charecters are based on for those of you who say digimon is a ripoff of pokemon there's the ''ripoff'' and pokemon has 1 main plot opposed to the diffrent plots for each digimon season.

Also to everyone else I wont be complaining about this show anymores because the way I see it this sites just an imblalanced forms of opposite medias and theres always mixed or bad views on which you like or dislike anyway. But to be completely fair I didnt think the later seasons were that bad, season 3 was my favorite and season 4 had some interesting ideas to, but the first 2 I thought were just a little to childish for my taste but thats just me. I know people may be complaining at me later for saying that but its also my personal thought and this site as I said is so inbalanced with opposite forms of medias that thats also unavoidable anyway. I hope that summs it all up.

I use to love this show because i always ended up missing pokemon so i would watch this i loved the digimon movie too
Alaska Slim Posted 10 years 6 days ago
I feel the compulsion to eliminate some misconceptions.

While Digimon might appear to be a 'rip-off', it's only because Pokemon was the more popular, they both actually appeared around the same time, 1995 (and Digimon actually was the first to receive a copyright).

Their similarities end though with monsters and the name. Pokemon overall is a far baser show, the concept of it hasn't changed in over ten years with Ash and the gang still traveling across the world, and Ash himself still collecting badges or ribbons or whatever through competitive events all leading up to one grand finale competition.

Digimon however had an actual story, one that wasn't so repetitive, where the Characters do change, develop and discover themselves, and ultimately use their connections with their partners to help each other and the world at large. In this sense, only the Pokemon films can be compared to Digimon, not the show, which also tries to portray Ash or some other 1-time character as a Hero in preventing danger/ worldwide catastrophe.

Pokemon is also a show that maintains innocence, one where no one dies and the 'Bad guys' (Team Rocket) are there mainly for comedic purposes. It simply shows one boy off on an adventure with his friends and loyal companions while striving to achieve his dream, something very easy to get attached to, but also rather basic, lacking depth (which admittedly it’s part of it’s appeal)

Digimon on the other hand lost a degree of it's innocence midway, it encounters a much darker, grittier world, especially in the terms of it's third Season, Digimon Tamers, which was written by the same man who wrote Serial Experiments Lain, and adopted many qualities of another show, Neon Genesis Evangelion (Which, as any here whom has watched would know, is not a show for the squeamish or the faint of heart). People and Digimon alike did die, many times they faced a constant and present threat of such a fate, and the characters were detrimentally flawed themselves which are presented as obstacles they have to overcome, Matt/Ishida dealing with his anger in wishing to protect his friends and brother, Rika/Ruki overcoming her issues with her father and relationship with her Mother so that she might learn to love and rely on others, etc.

As such I can only conclude Digimon is the more 'mature' show out of the two, which is supported by the fact that Digimon viewers, though fewer, tend to be older than those of Pokemon (7-13, compared to 12-17).

To some it all up, selling Digimon as a 'Pokemon imitator' is to fail to acknowledge it’s originality and depth, which overall make it stand apart from Pokemon as a captivating adventure story about 'growing up' all it's own.

I am an all time Digimon Fan! I had almost every single trading card from all the different series. I had maybe 10 left (seriously, I had several binders for them) and someone stole them!!! I will kill the person if I ever see them again.. stupid exchange student...
But I also had the plushie, the Dairy Queen ones, and a beanie plush. The digi-vices, soundtracks, movie, episodes, figures, manga, doujinshi's, wallscrolls, framed poster, binder of fanart I drew and printed from the computer, etc. I even kept the different wrappers to the trading cards. And if a package had digimon on it, I saved it. Even these little, cheap jello packets.. No joke.
I was so mad when my family and I went camping the opening weekend of the movie. I never got to see it in theatres and am still mad about that. If I could hold a grudge (which is hard for me) it would be interfering with my Digimon.
My favorite coupling was TK and Kari. I also liked Kari and Ken, but more Takari. Joe should go with Mimi, and I was torn between SoraXTai or SoraXYamato...
I would say so much more but it's 2am. ^.^;; I need sleep.

BlueLuigi: Late to comment, but it's called "Digimon" because that's what it's called, just like "Pokemon" is called "Pokemon". The name was always "cut down" for the English version though.

Series 1: Digimon (US); Digimon Adventure (Japan)
Series 2: Digimon (US); Digimon Adventure 02 (Japan)
Series 3: Digimon (US); Digimon Tamers (Japan)
Series 4: Digimon (US); Digimon Frontier (Japan)
Series 5: Digimon Data Squad (I think); Digimon Savers (Japan)
SSJ Jup81 Posted 10 years 4 months ago
Narf: Frontier was okay, but my main problem was that it lacked balance and they were trying too hard to get every single evolution they probably could through Takuya and Kouji.

IMO, Kouichi should've had a whole lot more story done on his character, and to make the series darker, I really feel they should've killed him out.
SimonTheGoaler Posted 10 years 5 months ago
This show was pretty cool, but I only cared for the first series. (Cared a lot, though, don't get me wrong.)
Narf Posted 10 years 5 months ago
Am I the only one who actually LIKED Frontier?
This show is NOT like Pokemon at all. The only similarity is kids training creatures. They're two totally different shows. Don't call it a rip-off until you actually watch it.
Narf Posted 10 years 5 months ago
I loved this show. I still watch the old episodes from time to time. This show is NOT a rip-off of Pokemon. Anybody who says that has obviously never seen the show. They probably just assume that because the name has the 'mon' suffix. If you think it's a Pokemon rip-off, give the show a chance; you'll be surprised.

KKDW: It may not be a ripoff in Japan but in the USA. Pokemon premired in 1998. It got really popular and so another company wanted to compete with Pokemon. They dubbed Digimon so they could compete with Pokemon, that's what makes it a ripoff. I mean why did they have to call it Digimon? I mean sure Pokemon and Digimon doesn't have a lot of simularities but if they dubbed it because of the monsters and use it to compete against Pokemon then that makes it a ripoff.
KKDW Posted 10 years 10 months ago
Actaully blueluigi Digimon (the anime at least) came first, both had been around for a while. Pokemon started off as a video game while Digimon started off as something like a Tamgotchi, both got a manga spin off and then the anime. Neither is really a rip off of the other, shows like this are probably a common genre in Japan.
ShadowChaos Posted 10 years 10 months ago
I loved Digimon, but after the second season, i didn't really like it anymore
blueluigi Posted 10 years 11 months ago
SSJ Jup81: It doesn't even matter what simularities that Pokemon and Digimon have, it's still a rip off. The fact that both Pokemon and Digimon deal with monsters is the whole reason why Digimon is a ripoff of Pokemon. The whole point of Digimon is that Pokemon was so popular that they decided to try to make another show that deals with monsters. So they made Digimon and the whole point of that show was to compete against Pokemon.

I think the first season of this episode makes a pretty impressive series by itself.
Deleted Posted 11 years 3 months ago
I always thought this show was just a blatant attempt to rip off Pokemon. But seeing as how Pokemon was dumbed down so much, this is actually a great show to go back and watch after all these years. As a kid, I couldn't tell the difference, but this is completely diferent. The creatures can actually engage in intelligent conversation with the kids. If you want comedy, they sneak some quick jokes in. If you want emotion, check out "My Sister's Keeper" or "Sora's Crest of Love." Both are pretty emotional episodes, especially when Tai tells his story about Kari in the former.

blueluigi Posted 11 years 5 months ago
Pokemon was made in Japan and so is Digimon.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 11 years 5 months ago
blueluigi: And you're still showing your ignorance of the series (no, I'm not saying this as an insult; I'm just saying you're not very knowledgable of this series). Digimon and Pokemon have practically no similatiries what-so-ever. The genre is different for both. The only thing they have in common is that they both deal with "monsters". There's nothing wrong with saying you don't care for a series, but to say it's a ripoff of another when it's obviously not true is just stretching it...

Pokemon is an adventure series with a monotonous storyline with stoic characters which deals with trainers who purposely keep these monsters to fight so that they can gain badges and such. Satoshi's main ambition is to become the world's greatest Pokemon Trainer. It has had this same storyline for the past (almost) 10 years. There's been no change. The show is pretty much an exaggerated adaptation of the games, not counting series 2 since that was all original (and the most interesting, imo).

Digimon's genre is different every series. The characters actually have a background (usually) and do have some type of growth or development. Each season/series is/was different.

Adventure: About seven kids forced to fight to keep their world from being taken over by evil Digimon and to help the Digimon in their world. The genre is shounen/adventure.

Adventure 02: Pretty much a revenge series. Vamdemon wanted revenge for being defeated. Very typical in general for a plot. The genre is shounen/adventure, for the most part.

Tamers: The main villain wasn't even a Digimon. The villain was caused by human error. This series can be considered drama/adventure.

Frontier: Not getting into this, but it can be considered, to a small extent, sentai.

Savers: Shounen/Adventure/Drama.

As you can see, Digimon's plot isn't as stoic and predictable (okay, that's pushing it), as Pokemon. Pokemon is the same exact thing....

Satoshi-tachi meets someone.
Satoshi-tachi helps out said person.
If it's a girl, Takeshi acts girl-crazed.
Depending on the season, Takeshi gets pulled away.
Roketto Dan shows up for whatever the reason.
Satoshi or the person the group is helping, takes out the "Pokemon of the day".
Said Pokemon attacks Roketto Dan.
Roketto Dan gets blasted "off again".
Satoshi-tachi leaves said person, and goes back off on their journey.

Same old thing. And the characters never seem to change. At least with the Digimon series (can't say anything about Frontier or Savers), they kids had characterization and background information. We know of their fears, likes, etc., which makes them more "human".

In Adventure, we found out that Koushirou had an adoption complex, and why his character was so uber polite.

We learned how Yamato had trouble handling his parents' divorce.

We learned that Takeru really had a time dealing with the divorce, and that it bothered him more than he ever let on.

We learned that Ken was still upset over his brother's death, and blamed himself for it, hence his "suicidal" nature towards the end of Adventure 02.

I could go on, but I'm going to stop here. This has gone on for far too long.

Not only is this a rip-off of Pokemon but they combined Pokemon with Megaman as a TV show. I mean it takes place in a virtual world. I did not like that show.

PS: On, I DID watch Digimon, I didn't like it. I didn't like how it ripped off some good video games (well Pokemon pretty much is all about the video games you know).

SSJ Jup81 Posted 11 years 6 months ago
sasha: Well, yeah, in Tamers Juri at one point did want to kill herself. She was depressed because of all the stuff that was going on and was blaming herself, for the most part. Aside from that, the head writer for Tamers (Chiaki Konaka) is known for his other series that are usually dark (Serial Experiment Lain; Big O, Hellsing, RahXephon, etc), so it's not surprising they had something like that in Tamers. He was even the head writer for the episode where Hikari was forced to the Dark Ocean in Digimon Adventure 02. That episode was implying rape for the original. Well, it was implied that those Digimon (forgot what they were called) was going to just to reproduce.

In series 2, Ken was suicidal towards the end. He never forgave himself for the death of his older brother since he was mad at him when he was killed and he felt bad for the way he was when he was the Kaiser and the kids' enemy. He had a deathwish, pretty much, when sucked into BelialVamdemon's little dreamworld thing. I always did like the fact that Daisuke was the only one who didn't get affected by it since he was content with how things were in his life.

I hate this show soooooooo much!!!!!!!

It's a huge ripoff of Pokemon. People say Digimon is better but I like Pokemon, not only was it a big craze but it is also NINTENDO. I'm a huge Nintendo fan though I do not like Pokemon as much as I used to. In fact I like anything Nintendo.

Now back to Digimon, I don't like this show, it's horrible and it's a ripoff to Pokemon which is better than Digimon. OK I'm repeating myself am I? Well Pokemon is better than that big huge ripoff of it.

I like Digimon Savers so far. It's a nice change, since it's not as predictable as the other seasons, seemingly. I also like the fact that they ditched the whole "Goggleboy" and "Chosen Child" thing out the window.

I also like the fact that Rosemon is finally going to make an anime appearance. So far, she's only appeared in the V-Tamer manga. For Savers, Yoshino's partner is going to eventually evolve to one.
Zell583 Posted 11 years 10 months ago
ok for those of you still in the dark, THERE IS A SEASON 5 NOW!!!!! here is the intro link.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 11 years 10 months ago
As I mentioned before "Digivolve" and pretty much "Digi"-anything, were ENGLISH dub inventions. For the original, they use the word "evolve" and "evolution". For Tamers, they just painted over the "Evo" part whenever they were reading it, and replaced it with "Digi".

The ONLY time they used "Digivolve" in the Japanese version, was during teh international eps, and the Mexican girl they met, her Digimon evolved by saying "Digievolucinal" or something like that.

In my opinion, at least Digimon had variety and change every series, unlike Pokemon, which still has the same, stoic plot...and yet, I like Detective Conan, which has had the same plot since it started. Oh well...
MrTorresSaysHello Posted 11 years 10 months ago
Well, I saw this show in japanese with spanish subtitles so maybe i could appreciate the story better. True, all the digimon were butt ugly but i was just soo hooked on the story and i thought it was cool. Then i moved to the States, heard teh american theme song, and saw the first episodes of the 3rd season *shudders*

Right back at ya Baloo and AngryGreenMARTIAN, this show was awful!! Especially the newest ones, those shows SUCKED!!!
BabyCharmander Posted 12 years 2 days ago
I remember I used to hate this show. There was toilet humor, I didn't like how the monsters would change back to their original forms, and some of the episodes seemed to promote rebellion against parents. Some of the Digimon were just plain ugly, too. (Whatever that bug Digimon's evolution was... the thing with no lower JAW, and the plant-like Digimon's evolution that looked like a giant cactus.) It also bugged me how some of the Digimon had evolutions that didn't even relate to their last form, like that one flying hamster evolving into an ANGEL. Seriously... WHAT? I liked the Digimon game for the Playstation and I liked the old handheld pets, but that's about it, I'm afraid.

I actually like this one more than pokemon!!!
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 1 month ago
Well, the whole Touma/Tohma and Masaru hostility seems to be pretty much gone now. Both are getting along.

I hope that for the newer series, it doesn't grow stale in the way that Frontier did.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 1 month ago
Yeah, sorta. The design is different.

Masaru's partnered up with an Agumon (how they met was interesting enough; they were about to fight each other).

That particular Agumon's path is...Agumon > Geo Greymon > Rise Greymon > Shine Greymon

For Yoshino, the path of her Raramon (Lalamon) is...Raramon > Sunflowmon > Lilamon > Rosemon

For Touma, the path of his partner is...Gaomon > Gaogamon > Mach Gaogamon > Mirage Gaogamon

Out of the three, I'm lookign most forward to Raramon's evos. All of them are flower/plant based looking as well, and I've always liked Rosemon. It'd be nice to officially see one outside of the manga in anime-form.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 1 month ago
Luffy: Fuji TV. It just recently replaced Konjiki no Gashbell since that show finally ended. It's known as "Zatchbell" here for some weird reason. Either way, never seen it.

Ironically, Mr. Ishida's character works at Fuji TV. That's where they were in Adventure when they met up with him. I know if I ever get around to visiting Tokyo, Minato-ku, I'll definitely visit the Fuji TV station and Odaiba in general (lots of stuff there like Pallette Town; Zepp Tokyo; Aqua City; Mediage, etc). To go the obervation deck at Fuji TV, it's 500 yen...unless the price has gone up over the years...

Anywho, I'm watching subs of Digimon Savers (aside from seasons 1 or 2, for Digimon, I've never bothered with the dubs, especially after 02 was screwed over royally, although, I was told thta Tamers had a good dub). It's too early for it to be dubbed since it's going on episode five in Japan. A subtitled version of episode 4 just recently came out today, if I'm not mistaken; I should check it out, if I have the patience to. Like I said, both Masaru and Touma are highly annoying with their arguing.

If it does get dubbed over, it'll probably be sometime in the fall like with the other series.

Digimon Adventure: Started in Japan in April (1999); started in the states August (1999)

Digimon Adventure 02: Started in Japan in April (2000); started in the states round about August (2000)

Digimon Tamers: Started in Japan April (2001)...etc.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 1 month ago
Luffy: It's already out. Ep 4 just aired this past Sunday. So far, I find both Touma and Masaru annoying since all they do is argue.

Touma is pretty much snobbish and has this, "I'm superior to you" type attitude, and Masaru's temper is too fiery. Forget his Digimon partner, he fights Digimon enemies himself. The dude punched out a Kockatritmon and a Flybeemon. He fought against Meramon (and yet, he didn't get burned). I haven't watch ep 4 yet...who knows what he'll fight against next.

Digimon Savers is definitely defying the laws physics where Masaru's character is concerned.
SquidMan93 Posted 12 years 2 months ago
Stupid show.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 2 months ago
Oh, just thought I'd add on that the new season of Digimon just started in Japan April 2. It's called Digimon Savers. Interesting so far, especially since they dropped the whole "you must be a child" logic.

The main characters of this particular series are:

Masaru (14): He's that "fighting" type that seems to always want to prove himself. I mean, he beat down a Cockatrimon. ^^

Tohru (14): He hasn't shown up yet. I just know he's half Japanese/half German, and is supposed to be smart.

Yoshino (1: She works for a company that seems to work as a "Digimon control" center type thing. It's like they keep Digimon whenever they come from the Digital World, and make sure they aren't a threat.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 2 months ago
I personally didn't care for Digimon Frontier at all. The writers (or whoever is responsible) was trying to hard to get every single evo they could into it, and to do this, they ended up sacrificing the other characters.

Frontier suffered big-time from "Cheerleader Syndrome". You have five, six characters, but only two are focused on, while the others just sit around, cheering for them. The concept of Frontier was good, just wasn't handled very well. Also, the season was cut down anyway.

As for season 2, I liked it fine. I liked the whole armor-Digimon concept...then again...I think the music may have a lot to do with it since I love the armor-evo theme, Break Up. ^^;;
The new guy Posted 12 years 2 months ago
I think that the only season that should have been show had to be season one. It was cool, had a great ending, everything was at peace ect ect. But NO. There had to be a new evil that threatend mankind (and the digital world). And no the digimon couldn't become megadigimon anymore. So let's all armour dgivole and bore the cRap out of fans. Or in other words. I hooked off starting season 2.
Rhimmer Posted 12 years 3 months ago
I liked season 3 the best.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 3 months ago
Such illogical reasoning, they said "Digieverything". *Rolls eyes* It was that way for the English version, but not for the original. Thinking about it now, the only time I heard "Digivolve" or some equivilant to it for the original, was in the international episodes. When they were in Mexico, whatever that Digimon was, said Digivol-something, ca n't remember.

Anywho, I agree as well. Digimon is better than Pokemon was, mainly because there was more story to it and the characters had a lot more depth.

The three main Tamers kids had really good characterization, and the plot was dark. I mean, when a 11 year old kid wants to kill herself due to depression and other issues, that's pretty deep.

Of course, for me, I'm mostly into the Adventure/Adventure 02 characters. Let's see...

Taichi (Season 1): He was the leader season 1, as we all know. He's quite brave and courageous. His main problem, he's over-protective of his younger sister. She coughs, he jumps up to see what's the matter. Of course, this is mainly due to the fact that one time, he was responsible for her almost dying when kids. It obviously still bothers him.

Sora (Season 1): It's obvious what her problem was. Her mother was the cause of her problems, as she seemed to feel that her mother had too many expectations of her.

Yamato (Season 1): He (Matt) was a walking issue. The lone wolf of the group. He had "abandonment" issues, I feel. He took his parents' divorce really bad. He also had this need to try and protect/watch over his younger brother. When his brother showed that he didn't need him, he couldn't handle it, and look what happened...he ended up wallowing in self-pity and went all "goth" and "emo" and was manipulated and turned on the others.

Koushirou (Season 1): My favorite of all of them. He (Izzy) had this issue of being polite all of the time. Overly polite, not the "sucking up" kind, though. As the fans of the show know, he was adopted. He had a complex because of this. He felt that he was beneath everyone and "poison" to his family's name. This is why he was so extra polite to everyone and also why he never seemed to let people get close to him and bury himself into the computer. It may not be as noticeable for the English version, but it is very noticeable for the Japanese version. He was also babied, seemingly.

Mimi (Season 1): There weren't too many issues with her, other than the fact that she had a tough time dealing with death. She was also pretty sheltered and babied. Pretty normal.

Jou (Season 1): His main problem, like with Sora, is parent related. His father wants him to continue the tradition of working in the medical field, Jou goes to cram schools and stuff to prepare him for it. He's not sure he actually wants to become a doctor when older. In his family, it's a tradition dating back to the Edo era, so of course he doesn't want to let his family down, but eventually learns that he has to follow his own path and choose what he wants for himself in life, etc.

Takeru (Season 1): He (TK) acted like your typical, 8 year old who just happened to be thrown into a whacked out situation, although, all the stuff he had to deal with in season 1, was really shown in season 2. You find out that his parents' divorce bothered him more than what was shown. His secret desire was to have his parents get back together, so that he and his brother could be a family again. You also see how dark he becomes when it comes to anyone who is influenced by evil (sorry, couldn't word that beter). It's like he has himself a darkside for season 2; the happy go lucky guy. Too bad they didn't ellaborate more on it.

Hikari (Season 1/2): Her (Kari) problem which we saw in season 1, was still around in season 2. She had a brother complex. In her eyes "oniichan" could do no wrong. Even when we find out that when both were younger, she could have died because of him. She really looks up to him. She also is very dependent on him, which we saw in Adventure 02. When she was kidnapped in that ep where she ended up at that dark ocean (boy was this sugar-coated and changed here ^^), you saw how for the episode, she was talking about how she needs her brother, etc. For here, TK shouted something about how she should be strong, original, Takeru was going on about how she needs to pretty much stop being so dependent on "Taichi-san". Of course this issue got resolved.

Ken: Another walking issue. His mind was so warped, he came up with that whole "Digimon Kaiser" persona (with help, of course), and was the enemy of the kids for a while. This all stems back to jealousy issues with his older brother. He did well with everything. Ken wished he would just go away. He did, but permenantly. Got hit, and was killed. His mother and father cried over it, naturally. Ken tried his best to become his brother. So..yeah, pretty crazy.

Miyako: Her (Yolei) issue wasn't really much of an issue. She just hated the fact that she didn't get the attention she wanted. Her fantasy was to be an only child, which means she was acting like a kid with that "mid-kid" syndrome type thing.

Daisuke: Getting right down to it, other than trying to get Hikari to "like him" in a romantic sense, I don't think he had any real problems. Didn't seem to. He had problems in school, math being his worst subject. He does seem to always try to prove himself to others, though.

Iori: He (Cody) is a true pacifist and quite conscientous. His main problem was that he had a tough time trusting people and forgiving those who do wrong in any way or form. I personally feel that this is due to the fact that his father was killed in the line of duty. I guess, when thinking about it, the "bad guys" killed him, therefore, they don't deserve to be forgiven, and can never change.

This has gotten a bit too long, and hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but as you can see, you can get into detail with the characters (I only used the Adventure/Adventure 02 kids), and have an idea as to why they act the way that they do or acted the way they did. You just can't do that with Pokemon's characters, 'cept for maybe Team Rocket. We still can't write out a nice character bio based on depth with Ash's character, because it's still the same. Satoshi is on his way to becoming the greatest trainer of them all. Seems that we should be able to write out something about Takeshi (Brock) at least (mother issue and his father issue), but meh.

I was a big fan of this show. It was a lot more fun than Pokemon, which was the same thing over and over.

I actually think I may have been one of the few people to know that this wasn't a rip-off of Pokemon. You see, I actually remembered them from when they first appeared attached to another craze that appeared a bit earlier. Originally, the Digimon was just the boys', action version of the Tamagotchi (where did you think the digivice idea came from). It was even made by the same company. You'd train your Digimon, then link it to someone else's Digimon and they'd fight. When the virtual pet craze was in full effect, they released this here in the states. The thing was that it didn't really take off. I saw commercials and even spotted some in the toy stores, but the brand didn't really make a blip on most people's radar until the cartoon showed up.

Anyway, good show. There are rumors about a new season, but it's doubtful that it'll happen.

I liked this show at firstm, then when the kids became the warriors I completly lost interest in it. At first I thought it was a Pokemon rip off, then when I started watching it I liked Digimon a LOT better.

I liked the show when i watched it, but i thought it was a poke'mon rip off when i first watched it but then I got used to it.
SSJ Jup81 Posted 12 years 6 months ago
When I first saw a commercial for Digimon, I thought it was s upposed to be some futuristic version of Pokemon since the monsters on Digimon spoke and stuff. Boy was I wrong.

I enjoyed this series quite a bit, unfortunately, I never was able to watch all of Digimon Tamers since I couldn't download it, and I refused to wake up Saturday mornings to watch it since I liked my sleep. :-p

I was also still skeptical of the dub since season 2, dub wise, was so horrid.
Shadow Mist Posted 12 years 6 months ago
At first I thought this show was some lame rip off of Pokemon. Then one morning I was feeling daring so I watched the first episode of the second season and ever since I loved it. The second season will always have a special place in my heart but I think the third season was the greatest. The 4th season was a total flop.

Phantasmagoria_3D Posted 12 years 7 months ago
Like its rival, "Poke'mon", "Digimon" was just another commercial cash in. All the Japs had to do was make a show that had plenty of action and of course, cute, "fluffy-wuffy" type characters that kids would love and then sell them off as merchandise (e.g. cards, toys, etc.) There was actually never much point to it all, except for the fact that many were suckered in! However, I admit that I was a sucker for "Poke'mon" at the time. The only difference between the two was that in "Poke'mon", the monsters could only communicate by saying their name, while in "Digimon" they all spoke perfect english. I too had thought of a "Poke'mon Vs. Digimon" fight, but I think it would've been best on the old MTV claymation celebrity wrestling show, "Celebrity Deathmatch"! But this probably wouldn't have been possible since both "Poke'mon" and "Digimon" and targeted at children, after all. I must've been about 14 (eighth grade) when they first aired this on the Fox Kids Network and I admit that it appeared to have somewhat of a potential for an anime at first. The female characters were probably the most annoying! (No offense to any female viewers out there reading this! LOL) Posted 12 years 7 months ago
ugh, you know now they have turned digimon in to this weird thing where the kids themselves become like these legendary digimon warriors stuck in the digital world fighting evil and all that. but even so, i was always a pokemon sucker more
