I have sung this song for years not knowing what it really came from. I just googled it the other day and found this site. I looked at all the characters and it all came back to me! It was sooo awesome!
thebeatgoeson Posted 3 years 3 months ago
Watched this all the time. I too remember the clay worms at the beginning. My younger brother for some strange reason always thought it was dancing poop.

Just wanted to let anyone who is looking for them know, Pinwheel on DVD is available here:

    freewebs.com/stuffilike/pinwheel.htm

I'm an aspiring animator and cartoon preservationist, and I make my own DVDs (when there are no commercial releases available) of the shows that inspired me as a child. Normally people find me through google or word-of-mouth as I don't advertise, but I decided to do some word-of-mouth myself for a change, to help those who are actively looking for these DVDs and haven't found me yet. ;)

I'm in the same camp as the people who vaugley remember this show... I think I must have been so young when I saw it that I only remember it from the name and hearing the theme song.

Don't remember Pinwheel but i remember Nickelodeon. Wasn't that a clothing store?
SaviorSelf Posted 5 years 5 months ago
I too thought I was the only one who ever watched this show. It was my absolute favorite as a kid. I even learned how to tie my shoes watching this show. It was an episode of King Rollo that taught me. You know one of the shows with in the show. I also remember watching the animated scenes where the building blocks seemed to materialize as the train or car or whatever went along and the bubbles looked so cool. I almost cried watching the opening theme just now. How I miss being a child.

Pinwheel was totally my life when I was like five, I guess that I watched it over Sesame Street because it was on all day. This may sound silly, but I have like a creepy feeling when I think about the show, but not any real reason why, I just remember that some of the little skits kinda creeped me out, but I still loved it. I am also one of the ones that groups Pinwheel and Today's Special together, but even back then I thought that Today's Special was cheesy, but not Pinwheel. My older brother used to make fun of me when I watched Pinwheel, he would say that it was a Sesame Street ripoff, but they were totally different, whatever! It was also kind of special to me because I was usually alone during the day, my dad was working, my brother was at school and my mom was sleeping because she worked midnights, it was like I had my own world and that world was Pinwheel, hehe.

Hey, I swear that I also remember a show that I thought was on early in the morning on Nickelodeon about an apple tree, but that's all that I can remember, does anyone else know about this?

    I love this site!
shanasimmons Posted 5 years 7 months ago
does anyone remember a show called ballobijott? i'm sure i didn't spell that right...but it was a little claymation worm that lived in a sardine can and would go to sleep at the end of every show...i'm wondering if it was a segment that was a part of a show?? i used to love him!!
    death_cab_qt Posted 5 years 7 months ago
haha this is one of those shows that i totally thought, did i really watch that or did i make that up... lol no one really remembers this show out of my friends but me!

    Glofriend617 Posted 5 years 8 months ago
Does anyone remember a short show on Pinwheel with a mouse that lived on mars or on the moon and the trees had candy canes or cupcakes in them or something like that. My brother and I have been trying to find it for years. I don't remember if there is talking except for the narrator. He flew there in a spaceship and people came to interview him there...ring a bell? Help please!
curliesue Posted 5 years 9 months ago
wow ok i rememeber as a kid this show was on for hours lol and it was it wasn't juss me :D
jubey Posted 5 years 9 months ago
It's so weird looking at this because I have almost completely forgot the show ever existed I grew up in Toledo and would watch this show evidently hypnotized because I absolutely loved it but yet doesn't blare out in my memory, those characters the sesame street familiarity..wow haven't seen or thought about these images in such a long time.

I swear...I remember when the guy would sit in the room with all the boxes and open them up to let you hear different sounds. Ahhh...GOD, I loved that show! And Today's Special. They were my 2 favorites. I have 2 daughters now, and I WISH so badly that I could buy every single episode of those shows and let them watch them. They're so much better than the crap today...

    jenregan1979 Posted 6 years 6 months ago
I LOVED THIS SHOW!! I watched it every morning before kindergarten and even earlier then that. It brought tears to my eyes to see it...honestly havent watched it since first grade, when you cant stay home in the morning anymore. This show was SOOO much better then Sesame Street, to me at least....and I still play "gotcha last" with my older sister when we are being silly. I always loved the worm that would paint a picture the whole show, and he would only paint a leaf. Oh, and yes, Todays Special came on after Pinwheel...then it was the stupid anime shows...didnt like em then, still dont. Thanks for posting.
    Angel_MamaKin Posted 6 years 7 months ago
Ok so I am NOT the only one who links Pinwheel and Today's Special together LOL! Loved both the shows!
    Angel_MamaKin Posted 6 years 7 months ago
I am trying to find that theme song somewhere. Need to put it on a cd for my sister from when she was a kid LOL! Does anyone know where I can locate the song, or even old episodes? Loved the show myself and now the song is stuck in my head.

I stumbled across this page by accident while searching for something else, but after reading it, I signed up for a registration to retrojunk, JUST to say:

Ebeneezer T. Squint is the SHIT, bee-yotch! I was born in 1980, and I used to watch Pinwheel every single day. Ebeneezer was (and still IS) the "illest" fictional character I've ever seen. He would do the most sinister things without regard to any consequences. He grew weed in the basement of the Pinwheel house, and on one particular episode (my favorite episode of Pinwheel), he even bustout out a rap song, about how much he hates everybody, and about his SELF, and about his lifestyle (of chillin' in the basement, by his self, with his weed)! ...And he actually had some SKILLZ at rhyming! He was so COOL! Ebeneezer was Snoop Dogg before there ever WAS a Snoop! In many ways, he reminded me of my late uncle... I would pay good money to get a video of Pinwheel, ESPECIALLY the episode where Ebeneezer raps. I'm not even INTO rap on a hardcore basis or anything, but Ebeneezer's flow was totally the shit. Also, I remember this worm-like creature made out of solid little circles of construction paper, similar to the way the animation is done on "South Park." He was brownish-red, and had a very distinct theme song which both me AND my mom still clearly remember. There were no lyrics -- just some weird gibberish sound, with music to it, like: "weh-weh, weh-weh, ...weh-weh-weh-weh-whehhhhhh..." And also, sometimes during Pinwheel, there was this random guy who would bust out a funky trombone solo, and play the Pinwheel theme song on his trombone. It's so crazy, I'll be 28 years old later this year, and yet, my mom & I can (and DO) still sit there and have a conversation about Pinwheel, as vividly as if it were still on the air!

And to the person who said:

"Isn't it crazy how those of us who remember and love Pinwheel always link it with Today's Special? I always think of those two together and I don't even think they were on the same channel!"

...Yes they were. They were definitely on the same channel, and came on back-to-back.

Ok, now that I've signed up, I might as well go check out some other retro stuff, while I'm here... Later.

    awwww, I remember this shit.
lexidt Posted 6 years 10 months ago
I loved this show!! I am a total 80's baby, I even know how the song went, "Pinwheel, pinwheel spinning around, look in my pinwheel and see what i found, pinwheel, pinwheel, see what i do..." that's all i got!! This site makes me happy. Love you guys!!
Captain Howdy Posted 6 years 10 months ago
What a great show. I mean damn. Really.
elfchik Posted 7 years 11 days ago
Oh my gosh!!! My sister and I used to watch this when we were little. Our mother would put it on when it was time for us to settle down for nap. We were rarely able to stay awake until the ending. Nickelodeon just isn't the same as the good ol' days.
    Blueroc85 Posted 7 years 12 days ago
I used to watch this show often. I had forgotten about it until now.
    OpenArms81 Posted 7 years 17 days ago
Pinwheel was part of what made Nickelodeon great.
unkles Posted 7 years 2 months ago
This is the closing - the exit of the show, after the show was over, the intro started with an actual pinwheel... the sun came up (instead of down, and all the characters were waking up ready to start the day.
    meredit77 Posted 7 years 4 months ago
    and here is Simon...
    meredit77 Posted 7 years 4 months ago
here is buny in a suitcase...for those of us who can remember it.
    meredit77 Posted 7 years 5 months ago
You know I loved all of the little shorts on the show like, Chapi chapu, Hatty Town, Bunny in a suitcase, and of course Simon in the land of chalk drawings. I have managed to find bits and pieces of all of them on the tube but I want to know when are they going to release a DVD of the show. I would buy all of the episodes I don't care how much they cost.
Kendo Posted 7 years 5 months ago
Part of the reason why we all watched this all the time because it was on All Day!! Some of my first TV memories was of this (and Mazinger Z). Funny thing thinking back was all the little segments. One was of this kid,I can't remember the name, but he kinda looked like a retro version of Doug. Then there was Simon, wit the... "Well you know my name is Simon, and I like to do drawings" them song. Those small segments were the best parts.
Vickaronomie Posted 7 years 8 months ago
Pinwheel was Nickelodeon's trademark show--it was what Nickelodeon was known for way back in the day. Or so I've heard.

I only vaguely remember this intro. and I might have watched a few segments from the show. I was busy watching everything else in the early 90s. Plus, I'm almost certain I just wasn't interested in it. And now, I'm absolutely disturbed by it. (Shudder.)

But I watched it a little bit.
shotgunmary Posted 7 years 9 months ago
I LIVED in front of this show. I remember when it and "Today's Special" were the only things on Nickelodeon. There was a short that was stop action of a fruit bowl. I remember the pieces of fruit dancing around, an orange peeling itself and grapes arranging themselves in patterns. There was also a short of a little girl who goes to visit her grandmother. When she gets there she plays the theme song on her flute. It was that short that inspired me to learn to play the flute.
Flordagirl Posted 8 years 1 month ago
does anyone else remember the clay worms thing that used to come on pinwheel? I've been looking for it everywhere on the internet! They had a short clip in the intro of Eureka's castle if that helps anyone.
    rksexy2finger Posted 8 years 4 months ago
I never saw this show oviously because I wasn't born yet when this show was still airing I was born in 1991. But from what I see this show looks extremely creepy it looks creepy just looking at it so I prob wouldn't like it.
mwildermuth Posted 8 years 9 months ago
This and Today's Special definately both on Nickelodeon. the weird thing about this show is i watched it ALOT (wasn't it like 5 hours long?). Nevertheless, all i remember is the theme song. (word for word, too)
SummertmeBrews Posted 8 years 9 months ago
I'm sorry even as a kid this show sucked, I never liked live children shows for some reason. One exception was for Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Im guessing it was the muppetering that creeped me out a bit.
Wimplestein Posted 8 years 10 months ago
That is so funny I always relate this to Today's Special too. They were both on Nickelodeon. I just recently was reminded of the title of Today's special because of this website. I love both of these shows sooo much!!!!
    kimsy520 Posted 8 years 11 months ago
I loved Pinwheel!!! And yes, I do kind of relate it to Today's Special. I don't remember what channel that was on.
Azumichi Posted 8 years 11 months ago
Isn't it crazy how those of us who remember and love Pinwheel always link it with Today's Special? I always think of those two together and I don't even think they were on the same channel! They were great shows to grow up with though. And for some reason I throw Romper Room in there, but I don't remember it as well. Anyone else seen this?
    diggidy28 Posted 9 years 29 days ago
This is the other show (along with Today's Special) that I have faint memories of but I know I loved it and watched it all the time. I got that incredible nostalgia feeling watching the intro to this show, and I immediately remembered the song even though I haven't seen it since I was probably 5 or 6. Thank you for making this available Retrojunk!
    Retroman25 Posted 9 years 1 month ago
I have an alternate intro if anyone is interested
DarkLiger Posted 9 years 1 month ago
I've had a tune in my head for years, not wordds just a tune. Now I realize that it was the pinwheel opening theme. I loved this show, but now one else I know rembers it
