My favorite episode is from Season 1 when Louise's "Uncle Tom" visits from out of town when Lionel gets kicked out of school....the 70's was the golden age of television in my opinion.

Mother Jefferson stole the scenes. "I'm talking to MY son!!" / "Don't call me 'Mammy'!!"

This was a spinoff of the show All in the Family, as they had been the next-door neighbors in the show. Carol O'Connor, the actor who played Archie Bunker, used the show as a way to expose racism and stereotypes (as he did with his later project, In The Heat of the Night), and The Jeffersons largely followed that format.

Some might remember Paul Benedict (who played the British neighbor across the hallway) from his earlier appearances in Sesame Street as a painter painting numbers.
