Both this and Real Ghostbusters came out the same year so people tended to watch Columbia's version rather than Filmation's because top them it's better.

That being said this isn't as bad as some fans of the other one say it is. This is more of a so bad it's good factor thing whilst the other is good and so bad it's good cartoons isn't for everybody.

I remember liking this cartoon, but "The Real Ghost Busters" show was way better.
    palmer10 Posted 3 years 16 days ago
I guess I'm one of the few people who really liked this version.
Neuronmini Posted 4 years 9 months ago
i own both reasons and its classic all the way except that piece of crap live action one that i feel ruins the crediblity of this cartoon if you haven't seen this give it a whril and it will either make you laugh or turn it off.

Iloved this show. It was hard to choose this and Slimer & the real Ghosbusters which is why i liked them both. This version had some funny episodes but some serious epsiodes to talk about the the environment, drugs, etc. My favorite funny episodes were Tracy Come back, The Ransom of Eddie Spenser, Big Little Bat, Outlaw In-Laws, the episode where jake had to prevent his sheriff ancestor from becoming a werewolf, The one with Belfry's cousins (they tried to do a spin-off but i never seen or heard of it). I have the dvds

WOW! None of my friends believed me when I told them that there were TWO different Ghost Buster cartoons, and that this show really existed. FINALLY, PROOF!! I actually liked this better then the REAL GhostBusters.

I found a season of this on DVD. Just as goofy as I remember

Awesome cartoon, very well designed, an original 80's cartoon!

ACTUALLY, this show was based of the LIVE ACTION televison show, that came out way before the movie we all remember.
Matli Posted 7 years 10 months ago
This cartoon was funny. Ok, it's maybe not the original, but sure was good. I remember they had a load of merchandise...loved it!

I was so little when I watched this show. I remember I loved it, but don't really remember a thing about it. The theme song is still pretty cool and makes me wanna do an eighties dance. The intro brought back some memories. I just remember that every time they had to fight ghosts, they would jump into that teleport thing that looked as if it were made out of bones.

I liked this show better than The Real Ghostbusters. But why did someone put up basically the same opening, regardless of how it was captured?
VibraEssentia Posted 7 years 11 months ago
Well, Ironically, I liked this show as well. I liked their headquarters better.

Okay judging by everyone's comments nobody knows how to read. First off this came out before Real Ghostbusters. This show has nothing on Real Ghostbusters and how the hell are you going to have a gorilla as a ghostbuster. He wasn't even a gorilla that talked. Theme was cool though...but after seeing the Ghostbusters movies and watching the Ghostbusters cartoons to come after this I must say this cartoon got it's ass whooped.

This show was horrible. No disrespect to Filmation. Filmation was awesome for creating the original Ghost Busters in the first place. But this animated version of the show "the other Ghostbusters cartoon" is just a waste. The show is totally silly. So incredibly wanton silly that it's annoying. And annoying it is until the end of each episode until finally we are supposed to take the plot seriously and think the Ghost Busters are in trouble, but only long enough for them to be rescued by a friend.

How can Filmation go from creating He-Man and She-Ra and then all of the sudden create this garbage? It's like how Ivan Reitman created Evolution. Except that Evolution was over a decade after Ghostbusters.

The only thing I remember from this show was a sticker collection book. I think I'm sort of glad. Who are they to try to rip off such an animated series.

A few years ago, I was in Movie Gallery, and they had older videos for sale, $2 a tape. I searched through them and came across 4 Ghostbusters videos, so of course, I bought them, and I still have them.
Moonxtal Posted 8 years 7 months ago
I remember seeing this on tv as a kid and I would switch off about halfway through... I thought it was a rip off :P. Although Filmation may have come up with the idea of 'ghost busting' first, the 1980's version did sooo much better with the concept. I'd take the real ghostbusters, slimer and all, over an ape that catches ghosts.

I used to watch this show all the time. I still have a VHS of it. It's an episode that takes place in Scotland and a ghost that turns people into ogres when he posesses them.
    Rogue73 Posted 8 years 10 months ago
I think it was good show for what it was. a half hour of fun. The animation was good, and it had it's momenets. I would still watch this over almost any of the new cartoons they have on today. Sorry, I am just not a Yu-gi-o guy, or a fan of those other horrid anime things they throw at kids nowadays.

I remember the toys of this show as well. Still remember buying one at Bradlees department store.
mastamark Posted 8 years 11 months ago
I believe that the "Ghostbusters," was a rip off of this one. This franchise existed some 10 years before they even came out. It was much more imaginative and funny than the "slimer) one. Just my opinion.
    Saturday_Supercade Posted 8 years 11 months ago
This has got to be one of the worst cartoons ever put forward by the hands of man. It is based on an equally bad live action stinker that I think was made by Sid and Marty Kroft. I think there were action figure toys made as well.

I always wondered, what in the blue hell was this show?? It had a funny as hell opening that seemed to never end, that Gorilla was great, but the show was a little lame.
    coffy78 Posted 9 years 2 months ago
Slimer was okay. I guess I can understand why you don't like him, but the Real Ghostbusters was way better. Another great 80s cartoon that I wish I could see again.
eep! Posted 9 years 3 months ago
To be quite honest, I enjoyed this one much more than “The Real Ghostbusters.” The plots were different and consisted of new “ghost” thought. Talking skull phones, a flying rat worm thing and a gorilla was much better than slimer. The only thing that truly sucked was their car. What the hell kind of car is that anyway? Reminded me of the “The Beverly Hillbillies.”
