I recently saw Pee Wee's Playhouse in Broadway...hysterical and what nostalgia! Watching it as a kid, then to see it live brought tears to our (my sister and I) eyes!! So glad he's back.

I believe this was on Saturday mornings...? Another reason to wake up on Saturday. One of my faves!

This was a GREAT show. Kids nowadays are still very much entertained when they watch this. I play this for my 3 yr. old son now and he absolutely loves it! He forces me to put on the DVD and watch it with him every morning before work. And at work (teaching) my students always look forward to the secret word I do with them (which I sometimes get from the show!)

I recently (3 yrs ago) bought the DVD collection of Pee Wee's fun house Vol - 1. I remember my nephew and niece watching it, and the t.v.blow one day and my sister had to go out and get a new one before the show started or it was going to be big trouble from a 4 & 5 yr old! I enjoyed watching it too. But I notice now there are also noticed that some prominent t.v. celebrities are on his show. I think he is just pure genius and a little bit of a smart ass too. But its still funny!

    mailaharlow666 Posted 5 years 1 month ago
I watched this recently and you don't realize some of the preverse humor in this show when you were little.

    "Yum, Cheezey" says Pee Wee
"Yum, Balley" says the clearly gay mexican guy who crepped in throught the window. lol

wiccalee Posted 5 years 11 months ago
It was funny how this show actually was labelled a children's show. I watched again on Adult Swim after many years had past since my adolesence and noticed alot of adult suggestions in the dialogue. Laurence Fishbourne ROCKS as Cowboy Curtis!
chrisblazez Posted 5 years 11 months ago
This show had a way of keeping my attention.

BenJamin Posted 6 years 4 months ago
One show I would watch constantly. I'd rent a copy everytime I went to the video store. I do have a few copys of the show on VHS, but now I have it on DVD and the Christmas Special as well. And to be perfectly honest here... I've always admired the claymation opening of the show (since I am a claymation buff).
Snollygoster Posted 6 years 4 months ago
I like how the anti-pee wee posts all refer to him being a 'perv'... hate to break the news to you all, but pee wee is a character. I agree, I don't care what Paul Reubens has done. It stinks that the show suffered for his 'crime'. Even to this day, the whole report still sounds like he was setup. But what's done is done....

Anyway, the show was awesome. Pee wee was great b/c kids had fun, and I remembered a lot of 'grown ups' watched it with us kids. NOW, I know why, as Edymnion pointed out.... there were a lot of sexual undertones and references. As a kid you have no idea. Like my buddy got the first season of the Dukes of Hazard. After the first few episodes, we were amazed at all the sexual inneuendos. I think it was so popular b/c it was able to connect to multiple levels of audiences.

    Cheers to P.W.!!!

    Hi guys!

I know this sounds square, but please reframe from cursing. I feel you can get your point across without such words. These shows were from back in the day when life was easy and care free. Thank you!

What a fantastic show! I own every Pee-Wee related thing on DVD. I only hope Paul Reubens can get his proposed "Pee-Wee's Playhouse Movie" off the ground! That'd be great to see.

Here is a rare intro to 2nd season of Pee-Wee's Playhouse. It was the first episode of 2nd Season when they re-decorated the playhouse.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yp5449038w

...I say it should be added to the rest of the intro's to Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

I didn't see this until around '96 when they had it on the Basement. When I first saw it, I was like, 'WTF IS THIS???' but couldn't help to continue to watch it... a lot of other kids swore they hated him (the same ones swearing 'Power Rangers is gay!';) so I always never said anything... but Pee-Wee is so awesome LOL. I loved the movie especially.

I just watched and taped the very first episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse last night on Adult Swim. I'm glad Pee-Wee is back on television.

I look forward on watching and taping each episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse.
jaklumen Posted 8 years 5 months ago
I'm not surprised that it will return on CN's Adult Swim-- I've heard it had double entrendes for the adults, although I never caught on when it was first aired.
    TV1985 Posted 8 years 6 months ago
I too can't wait to see Pee-Wee's Playhouse agian. I miss the show. I'm glad it will be on Cartoon Network: Adult Swim.

It better not be cancelled like it was when it was aired on the Fox Family Channel, just before it changed to the ABC Family Channel.
DemonEnvy Posted 8 years 6 months ago
I'm so glad it is going to be playing on AS. I wonder what ever became of that adult Pee Wee series he was supposed to make. It would be perfect for AS. Anywho, I loved this show as a kid, and I let my son watch it when it was on Fox Family. I can't wait to watch it again!
    spookycat50 Posted 8 years 6 months ago
I remember being afraid that someone at my junior high would find out that I watched it every Saturday morning. I still love this show and now my daughter does too. Plus, Mark Mothersbaugh composed the theme song. How rad is that?
    TV1985 Posted 8 years 6 months ago
I understand on what Paul Reubens has done in the last 15 years. So what? I forgive him for what he did in the last 15 years.
    Athena9188 Posted 8 years 7 months ago
I used to watch this in my bedroom and would shout when someone said "the word of the day." My brother and parents would run in, thinking that something was wrong with me.
Moonxtal Posted 8 years 7 months ago
Yep< I watched this show, but I wasn't as big of a fan as my brother, he collected the dolls and stuff! I would watch this in the morning with my bowl of shugery creral. There are alot of great lines, like "I know you are, but what am I?" and "Connect the dots, la la la!"

His first movie, (and my absloutly favorite one) was directed by tim burton. I think that's why I loved it so much more than the second, where they gave pee-wee a love intrest (yuck!).

As for his 'crime' I do believe it was just for wanking off at the porn theater, not molsting children. Shill, his show was the best live action show i ever watched.
Rhimmer Posted 8 years 9 months ago
I remember this show sort of, i guess I was to young when it first came out. But I do remember watching the replays when ABC Family got hold of it and showed a bunch of old school shows like this. I was in my early teens at the time.
    HoneyBrown1976 Posted 8 years 9 months ago
I looooooved this show. Don't forget the mailwoman is now on Law and Order!
    80sGuru Posted 8 years 9 months ago
Looking back, i loved this show, and would like to get it on DVD someday. A couple big name stars seemed to get their starts here, namely Lawrence Fishburne and Phil Hartman, which looking back i can see them in the roles they played, though then i had no idea who they were. As great as i think the show is though, i am sure Lawrence Fishburne took it off his resume', and i am sure Phil Hartman did as well when he was alive. Gods, just thinking that Morpheus from The Matrix used to be Cowboy curtis just gives me chills!
takineko Posted 8 years 9 months ago
Sadly, all I remember is that I loved the show, and I remember the movies well, but I only have fragmented image memories from the show (shows how young i was). I do wish I could see it again! I think its amazing that a children's show got so popular that it spawned two theatrical movies and is still remembered 20 some odd years later. That really says something about this series.
CanadianWeirdAlFan Posted 8 years 9 months ago
Thanks for agreeing with me Cherrie! Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought so LOL! :)
    snowmonkie44 Posted 8 years 9 months ago
god i miss that show. it was most defently my all time favorite show when i was little. it was nice for a while what used to be the fox family channel was running it but then they changed and now no more pee-wee :'(
    TV1985 Posted 8 years 9 months ago
I loved the moments when Pee-Wee and everyone else would scream to the secret word of the day.

    "AAHHHH!!!"

    ...*sigh* Good days.
CanadianWeirdAlFan Posted 8 years 10 months ago
    I remember watching this. lol.

Randy that puppet guy use to creep me out a little..

I never knew Cindy Lauper sang the theme song.

Is it just me or doesn't she sound a little like the woman who was the voice for Betty Boop? LOL. At some parts she does!

*Am I the only one who thought the Betty Boop cartoons were cool?*
    Rogue73 Posted 8 years 10 months ago
You always knew you were going to have fun when you watched his show. Not to mention Cyndi Lauper singing the opening theme song put ya in the mood.
SummertmeBrews Posted 8 years 10 months ago
PeeWee Herman was definately original in many aspects... I grew up with this nut and thought it was completely normal, luckily just before the big mishap
    TV1985 Posted 8 years 11 months ago
Pee-Wee Herman/Paul Rubans will always have my respect.

I own Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Big Top Pee-Wee on DVD. But I don't own Pee-Wee's Playhouse vol. 1 or vol. 2 on DVD yet.

Pee-Wee is a person you can count on to make you and today's children laugh.

    Those were the days!

I loved and still love Pee-Wee Herman. No matter what he did back in 1991. That was then, and this is now.

-To Pee-Wee Herman/Paul Reubens: You've given me many laughs over the years. Thank you for all of your hard work on making many people laugh. Escpecially me.

    This show was Crazy kool,baby!
    Phantasmagoria_3D Posted 9 years 2 months ago
I watched this show as a kid and thought it was very good for it's time. Okay, so Pee-Wee Herman is a retard, but that's what makes his character funny! I was quite surprised after hearing that the person who played Cowboy Curtis was really Laurence Fishborne (who played the role of Morpheus in the film, "The Matrix";) many, many years later! To be quite honest, I didn't recognize him. This show was always entertaining and fun, while sometimes being educational at the same time! I always loved the intro too! :)
    mrs.link Posted 9 years 2 months ago
omg i used to watch this sooo much as a kid and now that im a teen and when i see and episode....was my mom nuts lettin me watch it!!I guess she just got a good kick out of it the kiddie adult show. Gag peewee, this is a kid show, not comedy central. I cant beleive i missed all those..things.messages. stupid peewee. I guess the guys who like managed the show were like drunk all the time and never noticed anything. peewee either grow up and do ur "thang" or remain a kid comedian. u cant be both. oh well ur fired anyway. too bad for uuuuuu!!
Edymnion Posted 9 years 3 months ago
Yeah, and people forget that he was originally an ADULT standup artist. There was a lot of sex stuff in his original standup, and there was actually a surprising amount of it that managed to slip into the show.

I remember one particular scene where the craft project was making books out of yarn and construction paper. Miss Yivonne (who was the slutty woman in his standup, turned nice girl for the show) had made her book for the hot latino soccer player/lifeguard. She gave it to him saying "I made you this so you could keep track of how many times you score.... in soccer!". I swear, there was several seconds pause before she put "in soccer!" on the end.
    X-187 Posted 9 years 3 months ago
he was not acused of being a pedophile. he was cought jerking it at an adult movie. besides that doing this show probably killed any chance at haveing a real woman anyway. the show was great though.
eep! Posted 9 years 4 months ago
