Just got this on dvd. Loving it. I used to watch it as a kid but all I could remember was the theme. Now I remember why I used to watch it all the time.

thebeatgoeson Posted 3 years 3 months ago
My brother in law has a book on gnomes and they're drawn just like they were in the cartoon. Also, there needs to be a retro channel on TV that plays David the gnome and other classics. The modern drivel my nieces watch makes you wanna hit yourself in the head with a tack hammer.

Hello the data on this show is wrong, this show was created by Claudio Biern Boyd for spanish channel TVE,
and aired in 1985, so country of origin of this show is Spain. imdb : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283721/

I was browsing through the list & when I saw this show I thought it sounded familiar so I clicked on it. As I was watching the theme I realized I actually knew some of the words & sang along! haha. I haven't even thought of this show in years. It's so weird what your brain stores that you don't even realize. This is the best website ever. I can't believe I'm just now finding it. I have alot of lost time to make up.
cgoodpaster Posted 4 years 4 months ago
I so miss this Nick lineup that aired. It was Eureka's Castle, Little Koala, David the Gnome and Mya...Mya the Bee. (Not in order). This was the good days of real cartoons. Todays cartoons are not the same. Please tell me where I can get dvds of these cartoons for my kids one day. Thanks for this website, too!!!
ramost Posted 4 years 6 months ago
you can find the dvd series at freewebs.com/stuffilike

maeho Posted 5 years 4 months ago
This show is the best cartoon they ever ran on Nickelodeon! I remember so well, my aunt even has episodes recorded on VHS tapes. I wish there was some way to get this show either back on air or for a DVD box set to be made! This is a great show for kids and the parents who have to watch cartoons daily! =)

hackfodderdotcodotuk Posted 5 years 5 months ago
I know this is said, but I even had the book of the Gnomes collection book thingies. Each week you collect a new Gnome and the books made a picture when you put the all together. I thought it rocked!
    Trueblue94 Posted 5 years 5 months ago
I didn't grow up with this show, but I watched some of it on Youtube... and thought it was the best show ever. It had a fox (foxes are awesome), and it was about animals and nature, which interests me. I pretty much want to see all the other old school Nick Jr cartoons like Little Prince and Littl' Bits, 'cause old school cartoons are awesome:)
TreyVore Posted 5 years 6 months ago
Yeah I remembered this show. I have only vague memories of it, but I will always remember Swift. I liked him a lot.

Then again, foxes make anything cool.
    Mondav87 Posted 5 years 6 months ago
Tom Bosley's voice was just so soothing, this was definitly a great pre-nap show
erherh Posted 5 years 7 months ago
The animated series David the Gnome is spanish. Not american.
Chubdiesal Posted 5 years 7 months ago
i use to watch this show everyday during the week. I remember my aunt had coffee mugs where the handles look just like the gnomes. I really liked the animals in the show and how they always helped the gnomes against the trolls.

    pokeeto2 Posted 7 years 4 months ago
Whoa, I haven't heard that since I was five, ( back in 1992 ). Brings back memories, when life was good, TV shows were awsome.
eternalshogunx Posted 7 years 6 months ago

Kiatrasi Posted 7 years 8 months ago
In case people didn't know, you CAN get World of David the Gnome on DVD set these days, among with other classic series such as Dogtanian etc. Buy it, show it to your kids, watch them yourself...it's worth it! I did :)
TheLadyRed Posted 7 years 8 months ago
The Olsen twin and Kirstie Alley were not in this show, someone needs to fix the cast page.
    OldSchooler84 Posted 7 years 9 months ago
You know what sucks... this site brings all us oldschoolers togather... but it makes us so sad cause we cant go back in time and injoy what we had you know? This song reminds me so much of when i was a young tyke.

I really don't remember much about this show. Since Mary- Kate and Ashley were doing voices they must have been doing baby babble or something considering that when this show started they were only one.

The narrator of this show was also the narrator on Madeline, too.

The World Of David The Gnome was a very good cartoon. It is a shame it did not last longer. If I found it in a box set, I would buy it imediatly!
    retroguy78 Posted 8 years 2 months ago
Oh my god, every hair on the back of my neck is standing up. I never thought I'd see this again. Now I got that damn theme song stuck in my head.

It's funny my sister and I were JUST talking about this show a couple weeks ago.
Skeletor Posted 8 years 11 months ago
The TROLLS who would give David grief, they were cool to! I remember in one episode one of the trolls got caught in the sun light and turned too stone. That scared the piss outta me! *Sigh* Good times.
TROLLS AND WIZARDS AND FAIRY KINGS.
BIRDS THAT TALK AND FISH THAT SING.
AND IF YOUR HEART IS TRUE, THEN YOU WILL FIND THEM TO!
Skeletor Posted 8 years 11 months ago

G UNIT Posted 9 years 1 month ago

HanSime Posted 9 years 1 month ago
I thought it was produced in France/Italie (indeed by BRB International, but also CINAR and Miramax Films). The story is based on the dutch book by Rien Poortvliet and Wil Huygen. The original name was "Le Monde de David le Gnome", obviously, it's been translated to about every conceivable language. >_>

See here for details in dutch :p

Hi, I'm new to the site. I have a comment to post about this show. It is not from the US, as you say. I is from Spain, where it was first released in 1985 (IMDb), when I was 11 (yes, besides being Spanish, I am that old). Funny thing, my best friend ended up working for BRB, the company that created it (which, by the way, hasn't produced any good show since the 80's).
Willy Fog travels around the world is also a Spanish show, from 1981.
And... yes, it IS a great show!!
Krispy the Kritter Posted 9 years 2 months ago
were Pot, Pan, and...Lid? the trolls names?...I remember the theme still and some episodes...like the one where the twow deer were fighting over a doe and thier hornes locked and Dave had to saw em apart...or when the wedding was crashed because the trolls tried to fumigate the tree they held it under. Or when Lisa and Davids niece ventured too far and ate a berry that poisoned her. Man...great show...didnt like the courtroom show it spun off of though....and Swift rules!
Norrin Posted 9 years 2 months ago
This show rocked and I'm really glad to meet some people who thought it kicked as much ass as I do. They just don't make'm like they used to.
Norrin Posted 9 years 2 months ago
    GNOME KISSES ALL AROUND!!
Leesta Posted 9 years 2 months ago
this was my favorite show on nick! the only part i didnt like was the trolls because they were mean and ugly and didnt look anything like the toy trolls
    BRING DAVID BACK! :(
Trashley Posted 9 years 2 months ago
This stopped airing in 1998?!? Woah...I thought it was probably like 95 or 96 because I don't remember this show much past when I was younger. We used to watch this at school back in the day.
tamat Posted 9 years 3 months ago
I thick there is something wrong here because that tv show is made in spain, not US, for further information visit the website of the creators, http://www.brb.es

Btw, there is a continuation of that tv show called "the call of the gnomes"
Plecostomus Posted 9 years 3 months ago
Ah, a quality show! I almost forgot it existed till I saw it listed on Retro Junk a while ago. I remember the scene artwork being of high quality like several older cartoons (Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, etc.). As you mentioned above, storylines that could melt a Satan worshiper's heart!
eep! Posted 9 years 3 months ago
This was a great series. Based on short stories, it only released 26 episodes. I loved this as a child, with swift the fox and lessons on how they made things. It’s a series that truly deserves to be re-released. I looked for a dvd release note…none found. Not even a petition. Though, Ebay uses are getting ride of VHS versions.
    jemgirl86 Posted 9 years 3 months ago
I remember the fox, his name was swift!!!
