Just got the complete DVD collection in the mail the other day. All 147 episodes of good times. Even the music takes me back.

Second greatest cartoon ever, bested only by 80's TMNT.

Oh & Vincent Waller who worked on Ren & Stimpy Spumco cartoons with John K. worked on this Vincent waller is awesome.

No words can describe how freaking awesome me and my friends thought this cartoon was back then. Watching it, even now, I noticed that the first few seasons were better and scarier, probably geared toward older kids of the time. Later the show became too kiddie, which even at the age of 10 or so, I thought it had gotten kind of lame, but watched it anyway.

Never liked this. Felt cheated as the movie could not be bettered. That walk at the start with them pointing their fingers and swinging side to side was so annoying.

Me and my friend William love this the into to this was Epic as far as I remember and lets face it this series is not as scary as the Ghostbusters movies.

man this show was great i have all 7 seasons and man they had great writers never knew the 4 of them been thru so much together hands down this show was better than Extreme Ghostbusters that came out in 1998

Yeah, they called it The Real Ghostbusters because Filmation had a toon out in the early 80's called Ghostbusters! It was based on an old black and white live action series. Neither where that popular though!

It's called The Real Ghostbusters because there was another cartoon called Ghost Busters before it.

I never got why they called this the real Ghostsuster due to the fact that it was a cartoon and not a real live action movie

They have this on Teletoon but only during Halloween.

if you notice, you'll realize that most of the old 80s cartoons were actually japanese anime. Look at the ending credits. kind of interesting... Also, did anyone notice how the word 'The Real' looks like coca cola letters? Then if look at the Columbia pictures logo at the end of the credits, it says it's part of the coca cola company. Am i the only one that finds that weird?

I have over 100 eps on VHS that I taped off TV. I recently revised the them all and cut out all the commercials. So, on a lazy day, I'll put them on and watch them as I do chores around the house. I'm such an Egon...I mean...nerd.

You guys will be pleased to hear that in the childrens' section at FYE you can find DVD sets of The Real GhostBusters. I'm sure you could find it in other stores other than just FYE though.

Don't underestimate the children's section, they still got some of the retro stuff we love, re-selling it to the new generations of kiddos

I had all the toys of this when I was a kid and went on a few "ghost hunts" of my own. This along with the old TMNT was my drug back then, absolutely incredible series!

this is one of the best cartoons ever made. period. the halloween episode with samhain...jesus christ! the sandman...the thing they found down in the sewer, and yes even the boogie man! oh, yeah...the time when they had to send slimer into the contaiment unit to find stay puft so he could fight the giant grasshopper...

Best Cartoon of all time. Though the boogie man, i think that was the ghost, haunted my dreams into my teenage years. In the show he scared Egon as a child, and they never caught him just trapped him in his world. I think i'm remembering this right.

What can really be said about this cartoon except that it is one of the most iconic of the eighties area and one of the best the second video game was also good not the first one.

One noticeable difference between the movie and the cartoon was that the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man was made a separate character from Gozer the Gozerian in the latter, making a nod to the movie but explaning that Mr. Stay Puft had been taken over by Gozer.

Dave Coulier (of Out of Control and America's Funniest People fame) was chosen as the voice in the second season because the producers were trying to find someone that sounded more like Billy Murray than Lorenzo Music (which most folks will remember as the voice of Garfield in the cartoon Garfield and Friends).

I agree that Slimer was great until he took over the show. He was especially funny when the writers allowed him more intelligable speech (even my father laughed when he had a comedic line).

*dreamy sigh* I LOVEd this show as a kid, would always catch it on tv. Slimer was cool, untill he took over the whole show, and Janine was my favorite character after Egone and venkmen.

I sure do remember the ending credits (a.k.a. the outro) to The Real Ghostbusters.

Yep! I remember this one! Slimer was my favorite character. After a while of this show, they added another one called "Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters" but there didn't seem to be much of a difference than this one. Anyway, the episodes I remember the most are the episode of "The Copycat" and the "Humanbusters".

I found the Christmas episode on an old tape a few years ago.

I still watch it every year.
