I heard that this cartoon is JAPANESE, adapted from a German children\'s book. I have 2 episodes on French VHS and I know Anime-style animation and lip sync when I see it!

I remember that episode actually. they taught the hornet to stand up for itself against birds.

Awwww, this show and David the Gnome were my two favorites to watch! I remember one episode where they were told to beware of hornets which were in the area, and they were afraid at first because hornets kill honeybees (true fact!). Maya and Willy instead managed to learn about them and befriend them.

does anyone know where one may find a vhs or dvd copy of the 55-65 episodes aired in the USA

I loved this (even in middle school). The grasshopper\'s name was Flip and I think the boy bee was named Willy. The teacher they always talked about (I\'m not sure if she was ever shown) was Miss Cassandra.

My mom told me I used to watch this when I was like 2 or 3. Now I actually know what this show is like.

Actually that show was produced in Japan in 1975 based on a german childrens book.
In Germany it already aired in the 70\'s and then again in the 80\'.

the cartoon is japanese..it was under the name Mitsubachi Maya no Boken. i think the concept of maya the bee was from the czech republic.

This show was so cute, I loved it. I always thought it was Japanese like Kimba
