A True cinematic original. There has never been anything quite like seeing Eraserhead for the first time. Sadly, I have never had the opportunity to see it on the big screen. I do refute all claims that it is a horror movie. It has elements of a horror movie but it is a film that openly defies catagorization. It is the greatest filmed nightmare ever. It creates a total world into which the viewer is thrown. It is not an alien world. There are recognizable elements. It provoke one to respond to the images. One comment states:If there is one film that can cause mental that film would be Eraserhead. Not really, but its exciting.

I envy anyone watching Eraserhead for the first time. My own reaction was just stunned silence. I knew I was watching something truly great and truly special. It plunges the viewer into a world that vaguely resembles reality with a lot warped and distorted aspects. I have yet to make a concrete interpretation of the film. Get art should never yield it's secrets easily and Eraserhead is a real work out. One cannot just passively watch without having some sort of reaction to the images flasing in front of you. It is a masterpiece of cinema. An all too rare personal vision of a once great director.
