In my opinion one of the truly great films of American film--original and derivitive of no other film before it. I loved this film from the very first moment I saw it some twenty years ago when I rented the video. I had read about Eraserhead in several books on cult movies and had only a few scant photos to whet my curiousity. When I finally got to see it I was not disappointed. I still haven't figured out what it's really about but that is the greatness of any film that can endure repeat viewings and still remain fascinating. Sadly, David Lynch has become a slave to his own strangeness and no longer cares to tell a coherent story. Eraserhead is pretty linear in comparison to his last few films.
