I thought this was a brilliant move for Disney to make a dark, animated film, breaking away for their conventional style of animation and story telling, and treating kids like adults. Much like The Secret of NIMH, they actually show blood in it and say "damn", something that can never used in an animated kid film anymore.

This was the first movie i saw in theaters when i was 3 years old and i had a stuffed Gurgi and computer game with readalong book. It took 13 years to get to video and bought it right away.

This does remind me of stuff like He-Man, Heavy Metal, Secret of NIMH, Fire and Ice and Last Unicorn.

I like this movie, but I can see why it bombed. It's incredibly dark to be coming from Dinsey, but it's filled with awesome fantasy elements and a villain who's pure evil. It's a good movie. Not over-the-top great, but still good.

I remember when my mom first rented this on VHS. Gurgi was my favorite and I remember how upset I was when he jumped into the cauldron.

I think this the scariest Disney movie ever. This one really scared me as a kid. Some scenes still get to me.

Yeah, the Horned King was certainly no slouch as a villain. There's no "typical Disney Villain" traits found in him. Pure evil. This is a rather interesting movie, which is still shown on Disney from time to time.
