Back when I wrote for the 80s Movies Rewind, after having this movie, I wrote a review of this that tore it to shreds. I was influenced in my review by other websites that savaged it. I read the entry on it in the My Year Of Flops section of the A.V Club website, and I think I'd like to give it another try, and this time, make my own judgment.

Everyone should see little-known cult film The Apple at least once! This is one of those trainwreck movies that you simply can't NOT look at. It's sort of like Xanadu -- but Xanadu was a Hitchcockian masterpiece compared to this one. The sets/costume/choreography is neurotically over-the-top, the plot is utterly inane, and as for the acting... if you can't say something nice... The most redeeming thing about the film is the soundtrack -- some of the songs are actually quite good, though you'd hardly know it from this trailer. I know the album by heart, but think I've only sat through the film two or three times.... and after seeing this, I sorta wanna see the DVD. Jeez, I'm gay...
