19-20 years before Disney's Frozen (2013) came out, this--The Lion King--was the previous record holder for highest grossing animated movie of all time.

Anyway, here's a happy 20th anniversary to The Lion King!

This was one of my favorite Disney movies grewing up along with Snow White and Beauty and The Beast. Even though i was born for an year later after this movie came in 1994, i did got the chance to watch this film after my sister making and burning DVDs with movies putted on. and i'm also glad to have watched this film on TV again! even though it only happened in Portugal which is the country where i live though.

I remember seeing this on the opening day with the WHOLE family. That means, including mom and dad, brother, grandma, and a couple cousins. After the show, we were all talking in the car about who our favorite characters were. My brother liked Scar (of course), my mom liked Rafiki, my dad liked Pumba, my grandma liked Timon and I liked Nala. Can't remember what my cousins liked, but I'm sure they were about the same.
This movie will always be an epic animated movie.

WICKED COOL INTRO!!

One of, if not THE, Disney film I love the most. I continually curse Disney for taking so long to re-release this on DVD, and eagerly await the Blu-Ray release (that's going to be a long time, apparantly).

For now, the VHS is what I'll have to stick with.

OK I just found something out! It turns out that Disney actually helped Tezuka create and color Kimba! Not only that but there are no similarities in the plot, but its all in the art and drawing. the similarities in the name has to do with trade mark, because Simba (lion in swahillii or however you spell that) is not trademark-able and to keep something similar to 'lion' Tezuka changed one letter. Also, pride rock is based off a natural land mark in an African national park called Hells Mouth or something along those lines, so it wouldn't be uncommon to see that in many African based shows!

When I was in 2nd grade I watched this every day after school. My friend and I used to play a Lion King game with my little plastic animals(most of them are now missing) I like this movie a lot better than the second one.

I shall always remember TLK as the first movie I saw in a theater. It came out before my seventh birthday, and it is a cherished childhood memory to this day.

This movie kicks ass!!! It is Disney's trade mark movie. Even though there are some similarities between LK and JEL, this movie was totaly different, and Tezuka hasn't sued so he must not care. SIMBA RULES!!!

I love “The Lion King” to death. I saw it at least three times the summer that it was released. I wish so badly that I could have been Simba. Who would have thought that the voices of Adult Simba and Timon, Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane respectively, would be teamed up to do the remake of “The Producers”?
