Streets of Fire
Release: June 01, 1984

Streets of Fire is a film that was directed by Walter Hill, and co-written by Hill and Larry Gross in the fall and winter of 1983. It was described in the previews, trailers, and posters as "A Rock & Roll Fable." It's an unusual mix of part musical, part drama and part comedy with a setting that is both retro 1950's and the 1980's. The film stars Michael Paré, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, E.G. Daily, and Willem Dafoe, and includes cameos by many then unknown stars of stage and screen. The film was produced by Universal Pictures for a summer release but financially was a box office flop. In recent years this movie has achieved cult status. It has MTV-like visuals and editing techniques, a soundtrack of a variety of many different types of established musical artists and genres (blues to rockabilly to even some pop), and the acting is top-notch with a cohesive storyline and is simply fun to watch.

Quotes
Tom Cody: "There's no point in stealing a car, if you're not going to wiring it out."
McCoy: "Are we going to talk about it, or are we going to do it?"
Raven: "You're real dumb if you think you can pull this off."
Tom Cody: "I think you're forgetting something. I got the gun."
Raven: "I can get guns, smart guy, lots of them. Now... why don't you tell me your name?"
Tom Cody: "Tom Cody. Pleased to meet you."
Tom Cody: "Pay him."
Ben Gunn: "Yeah, pay me!"
Billy Fish: "I'm not gonna pay this jerk."
Tom Cody: "Listen, shithead, you give him some of your money, or I'll give him some of your money."
Tom Cody: "Don't worry about it. They always hire bums like me for jobs like this."
Clyde: "Let's see the color of your money."
McCoy: "You know some of you guys have some cute little asses. It'd be a real shame if I had to blow'em off."
McCoy: "You wanna change this tire, shorty?"
Billy Fish: "Changing tires isn't exactly my line of work, dear."
McCoy: "Then why don't you just shut up?"
Tom Cody: "You know, no one ever had a hold on me like you did. I would have done anything for you. A long time ago I would have thought you were worthy of it. Not anymore, babe."
Tom Cody: "Look, I know you're gonna be going places with your music and stuff and... and I'm not the kind of guy to be carrying your guitars along for you. But if you ever need me for something... I'll be there."
Tom Cody: "I liked shooting the guns... but I didn't win no medal."
Tom Cody: "I've always been a tequila man."
McCoy: "Some people that never talk about their feelings got 'em deeper than anybody. Other people never talk about their feelings 'cause they ain't got any."
Tom Cody: "You smart guys. You always think you can hire a bum like me to do your dirty work. Well not this time!"
Tom Cody: "The only problem with kicking the shit out of you is that it would be too easy."
Raven: "Well, it looks like I finally found someone who likes to play as rough as I do."
McCoy: "Everywhere I go, there's always an asshole."
Billy Fish: "Take it easy, Cody."
Tom Cody: "I'll take it where I can get it."
Be Gunn: "Oh, you're dumb. And, you're short. Real short."
McCoy: "I've been a soldier, 'til I ran out of wars."
