The Hunchback Of Notre Dame
Release: June 21, 1996

In 15th century Paris, Clopin the puppeteer tells the story of Quasimodo, the misshapen gentle-souled bell ringer of Notre Dame, who was nearly killed as a baby by Claude Frollo, the Minister of Justice. But Frollo was forced by the Archdeacon of Notre Dame to raise Quasimodo as his own. Now a young man, Quasimodo is hidden from the world by Frollo in the belltower of the cathedral. But during the Festival of Fools, Quasimodo, cheered on by his gargoyle friends Victor, Hugo, and Laverne, decides to take part in the festivities, where he meets the lively gypsy girl Esmeralda and the handsome soldier Phoebus. The three of them find themselves ranged against Frollo's cruelty and his attempts to destroy the home of the gypsies, the Court of Miracles. And Quasimodo must desperately defend both Esmeralda and the very cathedral of Notre Dame.

Quotes
Laverne: "We always said you were the cute one."
Hugo: "I thought I was the cute one!"
Laverne: "No, you're the fat, stupid one with the big mouth!"
Hugo: "What're you saying, exactly?"
Frollo: "Have you ever attended a peasant festival, Captain?"
Pheobus: "Not recently, sir."
Frollo: "Then there should be quite an education for you. Come along."
Frollo: "And He shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the fiery pit..."
Quasimodo: "Look, I appreciate all that you're trying to do, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Ugliest face in all of Paris, remember? I don't think I'm her type."
Phoebus: "Candlelight, privacy, Romantic music. Can't think of a more perfect setting for hand-to-hand combat."
Phoebus: "The name's Phoebus. It means Sun God."
Quasimodo: "I'm sorry, master. I will never disobey you again."
Hugo: "Oh, look, a mime."
Phoebus: "What a woman!"
Clopin: "And now, ladies and gentlemen, the piECE-de-resistance!"
A Guard: "You think he's ugly now, watch this!"
Frollo: "I think...you're hiding something."
Quasimodo: "Good morning. Will today be the day? You ready to fly?" (baby bird chirps sadly) "You sure? Good day to try! Why, if-if I picked a day to fly, oh, this would be it!"
Victor: "It is a trick to watch the colorful pageantry of the simple peasant folk."
Frollo: "And now, I'm going to do what I should have done...20 YEARS AGO!"
Frollo: "Remember, Quasimodo, this is your sanctuary."
Quasimodo: "My sanctuary."
Quasimodo: "You'e right! I'll go! I'll get cleaned up, I'll stroll down those stairs, I'll march THROUGH the doors, and..."
Frollo: "Good morning, Quasimodo."
Quasimodo: "What? What am I supposed to do? Go out there and rescue the girl from the--from the jaws of death and the whole town will cheer like I'm some kind of a hero? She already has her knight-in-shining-armor, and it's NOT me!"
Quasimodo: "Look. I'VE lived up in the bell tower for 20 years, and I think I know what the city looks like from above, and this is it!"
Hugo: "Way to go, lover boy!"
