PGA Tour on CBS
Debut: April 07, 1956

PGA Tour on CBS (or Golf on CBS) is the branding used for broadcasts of the PGA Tour that are produced by CBS Sports, the sports division of the CBS television network in the United States. It all began in 1956, when CBS carried the Masters Tournament, and it has been carried even since. CBS first carried the PGA Championship from 1956 to 1964, and would pick it up again in 1991. In 1970, CBS picked up rights to air most of the PGA Tour airing alongside ABC and later ESPN. In 2006, when ABC and ESPN stopped carrying PGA Tour Coverage, CBS became the exclusive home of the PGA Tour. CBS had a very advanced broadcast using dozens of cameras across entire golf courses and placing dozens of microphones along the course to allow the pickup of voices by golfers and spectators so viewers wouldn't hear silence in between sportscaster commentary. Since 2006, CBS has been exclusive home of the PGA's Bridgestone Invitational.
