Belle and Sebastian is a coming of age story about a young boy and his dog. It started in Japan in 1981 and aired on Nick Junior from 1984-1990. Belle was a large white dog that lived in the mountains and had been outcast by the villagers. Belle was reported to be evil, but only Sebastian knew better. Sebastian has never known his mother, he was raised by a man named Cecil since he was a baby. He starts to wonder about his mother and goes on many adventures in the Pyrenes Mountains of France with Belle to find her. His mother is a traveling gypsy that had left him in the care of Cecil vowing to return someday.
