Sunrise (Australian TV News Program)

This Australian weekday morning breakfast television news program from Australia's 7 News. This program was originally debut under the name: "Seven News: Sunrise Edition" on January 17, 1991 with presenter Darren McDonald, when it was prior to hostilities breaking out during the Gulf War. In 1996, the program changed to "Sunrise News" and later to "Sunrise" under it was originally cancelled in 1999. But on May 1, 2000, the new version of "Sunrise" debut, was originally hosted by Georgie Gardner and Mark Beretta (who currently doing sports). In February 2002, the program was revamped with a new version from 6am to 9am, the hosts were Chris Reason and Melissa Doyle, David Koch brought in with finance, but in October 2002, Reason discovered he had another cancerous tumor behind his kidney and had to resign from his position so he would be replaced by Koch temporary and later permanently. In 2003, the program began to pick up ratings by appointing Natalie Barr as Newsreader, and Grant Denyer to weather presenter, and re-appointed Mark Beretta to sports presenter. On August 30, 2004, the program moved to the new 7 News centre at Martin Place. On January 29, 2007, the program had a new makeover with changes to the set and on-screen graphics, but the set changed again on June 10, 2007, this time the new set includes more of the city into its shots by the installation of smart glass. On January 25, 2010, the program had a new look with a new set, format, graphics and logo. On June 20, 2013, Melissa Doyle had presented her final Sunrise broadcast after 14 years, and she was immediately replaced by Samantha Armytage. On February 1, 2006, Sunrise had a fresh new look, with a new set and graphics and extended the program from 5:30am to 9:15am, and having Edwina Bartholomew who left her position as weather position became Entertainment & Social Media presenter, and Sam Mac appointed as weather presenter. On June 9, 2023, David Koch presented his final Sunrise broadcast after 21 years. His replacement, Matt Shirvington debuted as Natalie Barr's co-host of the program on June 12, 2023.
