Smile
Release: January 01, 1975

From the moment they are born, every girl has the dream of being a beauty queen and The Young American Miss Pageant brings them to life. In the small town of Santa Rosa, California, all are excited from the teenage contestants to the organizers. It's also the biggest event of the year for head judge Big Bob Freelander and head coordinator (and former winner) Brenda DiCarlo. The only problems are Brenda's husband who is going through a mid-life crisis and yet, his wife is too busy to even notice while Bob's son, Little Bob, is up to mischief that might put the pageant in jeopardy. Meanwhile, a professional choreographer (who is torn between earning a decent salary and keeping his amateur dancers from getting hurt) coaches the girls as they endure rehearsals, interviews, appearances and finally the pageant and all the while they keep smiling; but some of them tend to slip as the competition heats up and everything counts from grades to talent. Can they stand up straight and takes the pressure or will they crack under the lights and in front of the judges? All they need is a pretty face, a little talent, a lot of luck and a great big smile to win. Produced and directed by Michael Ritchie and written by Jerry Belson.
