Wheel of Fortune
Debut: January 06, 1975

This popular hangman type game was created by Merv Griffin that was first hosted & co-hosted by Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford. 3 players spun a big wooden wheel for money and tried to guess letters on a big puzzle board and used the money to buy prizes. In 1981, former weatherman from LA, Pat Sajak took over and Vanna White (who was a contestant on The Price is Right in 1980) began turning letters in 1982. In 1983, the show went into Syndication & has been on TV since 1975. There have also been versions of the show in four or five other countries.
