{"title":"Kids Are People Too!","dateDebut":"1978","dateEnd":"1981","description":"\r\n Hosts\/Performers\/Interviewers:Bob McAllster\r\n\r\n 1978-1979\r\n\r\n Michael Young:1979-1980\r\n\r\n Randy Hamilton:1980-1981\r\n\r\n\r\n This Sunday morning teens talk\/variety show was seen\r\n\r\non The ABC TV Network.\r\n\r\n Bob McAllister(who had left WNEW TV Ch.5 NYC's Sunday\r\n\r\nmorning kids comedy\/variety tv show\"Wonderama\"a year earlier)\r\n\r\nattemped a comeback to children's programming with this series.\r\n\r\n\r\n Working with a live audience..he planned to do a show that\r\n\r\nwould be a wonderful combination of magic,comedy skits,songs,\r\n\r\ngames,informational segments and interviewers with guest performers\r\n\r\nand personalities.\r\n\r\n\r\n Unfortntealy?\r\n\r\n\r\n McAllister soon found out that the show would be aimed at teens\r\n\r\nand not at young children.\r\n\r\n\r\n His comedy skits,magic tricks and games were edited from the\r\n\r\nshow and his interviewers with the guests were also badly edited\r\n\r\n..so that the producers could air reruns of \"Superfriends\"tv cartoons\r\n\r\nand\"Wonderbug\"episodes.\r\n\r\n\r\n McAllister fought to regain control of the series..but his efforts\r\n\r\nwere for naught and he was forced to leave the program in Late\r\n\r\nNovember,1978.\r\n\r\n Michael Young a vetrain tv personality was hired to replace\r\n\r\nMcAllister in January,1979.\r\n\r\n\r\n Hamilton did fairly well in doing meaningful interviews with\r\n\r\nthe guests..but he was not a performer and his abilities to be\r\n\r\nentertaining were flawed.\r\n\r\n\r\n The show moved from The WABC TV studios in NYC to\r\n\r\nThe West Coast studios in Los Angeles to try and get more\r\n\r\nwell known stars to appear on the show.\r\n\r\n\r\n This approach also failed and by the fall of 1980.\r\n\r\nYoung was dropped as the second host.\r\n\r\n\r\n Soap opera star and singer Randy Hamilton was hired\r\n\r\nto be the show's third mc..but he was not a good interviewer\r\n\r\nand his appeal was better suited to adults than to teens.\r\n\r\n\r\n His talents were limited to singing.\r\n\r\n\r\n By the winter of 1981..\"Kids Are People Too\"was dropped\r\n\r\nfrom ABC TV's sunday morning scheduale.\r\n\r\n\r\n The show attempted a comeback in national syndication\r\n\r\nin 1988..with Michael Young again as the series mc.\r\n\r\n\r\n But..The show was seen in the very early morning hours\r\n\r\non some stations and young viewers still didn't find him appealing.\r\n\r\n\r\n\"The New Kids Are People Too!\"went off the air for good after\r\n\r\na few weeks.","leadImageMedUrl":null}
