Can someone give me a link to the prices of NES game when they were new? I need them for proof to a guy who's being a jerk on another message board.

I think they were in the $30-50 price range new.

I believe the typical price around here at the time was just a little over $40. As far as a link to 20 year old price lists, I haven't a clue. It'd really be cool to come across some ancient Toys R Us or Kay-Bee Toys print ads.

Damn right. Sounds okay if you shell that out for classics like Tetris and Zelda, but when you take into account some of us also shelled out that much for Ghostbusters and Back to the Future, you realize something was definately wrong back then.

Hey, they're doing the same thing today, with video games based on movies and GBA games(most of them anyway)

Dirty expensive, at that time. IIRC, one cartridge cost about 600 markka, which is around 75-85 euros by today's standards. Shipping, taxes, and a relatively small customer-base probably explain why it was so expensive here, in Scandinavia. Of course, NES was then something new too, so I wouldn't wonder if the merchants just wanted to rip off their customers at the expense of this "Mario Hype." :?
