purplestarz2006 6 years 10 months ago Posts: 19	This past summer they opened up a second Goodwill in the plaza right next to where I work. The old one was pretty bad-it had mostly clothes and furniture but no toys, VHS tapes, music, books, etc. This new one, however, has a big section in the middle that is full of VHS tapes, old music/computer CDs, and cassette tapes. They also have a limited selection of records. Since it opened, I've scored: Sesame Street Getting Ready for School Nick and Noel (Christmas special from the '90's) Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too Sharon, Lois and Bram's Elephant Show: Sleepover Alvin and the Chipmunks Sing-Along Video The Cat in the Hat (cartoon) The Barenstein Bears Learn About Strangers Barentein Bears Christmas Tree Eureeka's Castle Sing-Along I go back about once a month or so, when I'm home from school on weekends. I have three rules-I can only buy a tape if I remember watching it as a child, I cannot buy it if it is easy to find on DVD, and I cannot buy it if I've seen it up on YouTube.

Cambion 6 years 10 months ago Posts: 335	On my last thrift store voyage, I grabbed three vinyl records of some of my favorite artists (Journey, Genesis, Foreigner). And, over time, I have found a shitload of plushies - I found an absolutely adorable plush lobster, a unicorn, a baby alien, a purple dragon with moveable wings, a Great White shark, and a brand new Bijou plush (the female Hamtaro character with the French accent). I've seen countless old-school Care Bears, but I never got any because I'm not a fan.

velcrohead 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 586 Globally Banned	I grew up as a thrift store junkie. (Inherited it from my mom.) Goodwill is nice and all, but their prices have gone up recently. I like to find the stores that are willing to just lay it all out there. I've found that if you go to thrift stores in the ghetto, you'll get ghetto stuff, but if you go to those around or near more affluent areas, you'll get a lot better stuff. Some of my more recent finds: A near mint copy of Johnny Cash's "Live From Folsom Prison" record album, as well as a copy of the original "We Are the World" LP and a maxi-single vinyl of "Turtle Power" from the first TMNT movie... Ecto-1 car from the 1980's "Real Ghostbusters" line Various G1 Transformers. I scored a complete Ironhide for only ten cents at Goodwill. I also found a grab bag at America's Thrift Store that had Hot Rod, Hound, Gears, Pipes, and a couple of other 80's Transformers. 2 bucks for the whole bag. An Andruw Jones (Atlanta Braves) jersey. Not the ones you can buy in stores. It's game official. I can't say for certain that he wore it, but it came from a Braves locker room somewhere. Price = $3.99 at America's Thrift Store. Star Wars AT-AT Walker. $1.99 Masters of the Universe full-length story LP. Not a scratch on it. 99 cents. Also, an old Masters of the Universe Magazine, wrapped, mint, 50 cents. Both original Memphis newspapers from the day Elvis died. $4.00 apiece. Also a JFK original newspaper for $3.00. A Gremlins lunch box and Mr. T thermos. Oh, and my wife's sister found her wedding dress at Goodwill for 19 bucks. She looked great in it. Dang...now I want to go out thrift shopping again...

System 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 74809	the last time i went to one it was a year ago. i didn't have much time, so i just looked around. i looked at some of the cds/pc games there. one was this demo disc, well not really, since it was all trailers... it was a sega pc disc, full of movies of games i've never heard of before except for one, which was released on the sega saturn..... three dirty dwarves. i loved playing that game when i had my saturn. sucked it was nothing more than a movie on the cd i saw at the thrift store...

velcrohead 6 years 9 months ago Posts: 586 Globally Banned	Today I found a bag of original 80's He-Man figures at the local consignment shop. The bag had Hordak, Zodac, and Modulok, all of which I didn't have. There was a TMNT Donatello thrown in for good measure. Less than 2 bucks.
