I mainly look for homemade videotapes some poor sap underestimated the potential value of. Half of them are garbled hodgepodges, though. I once bought a SmackDown! tape (appeared to be recorded in 2000) that had only about the first three minutes of the show on it, and it gets cut off by an incomprehensible recording, apparently from Fox. At Goodwill, I bought a tape from the first season of the Colorado Rockies called "The Dream Season". I haven't watched it yet.

Some great clothes. When I was 11 and in my "hippie" phase (which I'm not quite sure is over), I found some AWESOME bell-bottoms for like, five dollars. Not to mention the insane abundance of tie-dye. I also remember getting a Fievel doll...And this past summer my mother picked up a pair of original unworn Kangaroos. I wear them to death... Yep, thift stores are definitely the cat's pajamas.

I LOVE thrift stores. It all started when my grandma used to take me when I was young. Then I started to realize about 5 years ago that 80's stuff was going like mad on EBAY! Then I reall hit the thrift stores. Some of my finds:

-Whole bag of Strawberry Shortcake PVC figurines paid $4.00

-Huge bag of about 20 G1 Transformers and weapons paid $4.00 sold on ebay for over $100

-I collect NES games and have bought over 150 over the years at thrift stores

-1960's Borden's Elsie the Cow Clock paid $25 sold for $115

-Coutless 1980's bed sheets

-Countless original Care Bear plush

There are tons of opportunities to cash in at the thrift store. But I have noticed that the thrift stores are getting wise and upping the prices on NES games and other toy figures because they know people will pay more. And Goodwill does suck! They have all new crap. I live in Central Florida and frequent 2 called "Community Thrift Store" (very junky and full of treasures but mostly overpriced) and Savers. Savers are like Value Village. I will continue to scour them because I love collecting things and I love selling things!

I picked up some Get Along Gang figure yesterday for 50 cents. Not sure if its even worth anything or not, just thought it was cool.

Great old gowns..maybe not to wear OUT, but fun to dress up in at home...just to "have". One problem I have, and wonder if this happens to anyone else in thrift shops.... I cannot count the times I have been forced to try things on by other "thrift shoppers"...they follow me into the fitting booth with things to try on..really! I think they find "great buys" BUT they do not fit SO THEY want somebody, ANYBODY to buy them. They will "ooh" and "aah" until you feel forced to buy or hurt their feelings. Regardless, I have a great collection of "costumes" ...Gorgeous, lovely things in velvet and and lace and superior craftmanship...things you just can't find today..
at least for the price of a moldy thrift shop...

Just today at the Salvation Army I got a great Lloyd's stereo amp. I love old analouge electronics. I prefer the sound quality and I love how you can have your stereo rig set up in about 30 seconds. And I've never spent over 15 dollars on old gear.

Let's see what I have purchased from thrift stores before:

Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Fifth Turtle VHS (later passed on to a friend shortly after getting volume 3 DVD)
Qwikshot (spelling? ) joystick (compatible with Amiga, Master System, and other computers and consoles)
Handheld Backgammon game

Cool stuff I have seen (but not bought) in thrift stores:

Tomy Pinball Machine (like the real thing, but smaller)
Storage Rack for PSone, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance
Open.... wireless keyboard (for use with Sky set top boxes)

in one store once, I spotted (in the backroom) a whole stack of PlayStation 1 games (including Driver and WCW mayhem) . Those games were "to go on sale" . Unfortunately, when I "checked back later" , all of them were sold.

I found some "The Secret World of Alex Mack" books, some "Are you afraid of the dark" books and VHS, "Doug's First movie" VHS, and I think that's about it. :)
And with that, I'm gone with the shadows...

Today I picked up a Transformers G1 Grimlock and Ravage for 25 cents each.

Last week I got a Rodimus Prime for the same price.

Life is good.

Over in Greensburg,PA they have a store called "cash-in culture" right in back of westmoreland mall. They specialize in 80s and 90s stuff especially toys and shirts. It's a great store and has good prices.

I found a 1998 X-Files Scully action figure (still in the box) for $2 at the local Goodwill. I'm kind of kicking myself for not buying it.

Best find was an Atari 2600 with all the controllers and about 30 games. The thing looked like it was never played. I think I got it for $10 dollars, but it may have been $15.
