Ah the Thrift Store. I think the only thing I like more then a Thrift Store is a Flea Market. Which sadly I know of none around here. :/
Let's see, what finds have I found?
Old Plushie's of Garfeild and Odie
Pokemon mini plushies.
Pokemon Evee plushie
A Pikachu Pillow (Which I consider one of my greatest finds, being I didn't know such a thing was made, and I'm a big Pikachu fan)
Some great books. I was estactic to find a copy of "The Battle For the Castle"
A few videogames like Streets of Rage 2, and Rocket Knight Adventures.
A Phillips CDi system for only 12 bucks.
A Teddy Ruxpin. (Sadly his eyes don't work, and his jaw recently snapped off. Really hope I can fix him)
A few Teddy Ruxpin books w/cassttes. Sealed.
I recently got a Sealed X Band modem for the Sega Genesis. Turns out that's not all that rare, but as a gamer I'm still amazed at the find.
I've gotten alot of VHS, such as The Darkwing Duck series begining movie, some Teddy Ruxpin VHS, Mystic Knights of Tri Na Nog, Swan Princess, DuckTales, Tales Spin, TMNT, Street Sharks, Monster in my Pocket, and Earthworm Jim among others. Including a sealed GIJoe tape (Infested Island) and a sealed Mortal Kombat Movie that's completely in CGI. I'm still unsure as if I want to unseal them to watch.
I'm only 2 tapes away from having all Five Ronald Mc Donald cartoon tapes too.
I've also gotten ALOT and I do mean that, of Black Cat Stuffed animals. Including one of the Panther from Jungle Book. (I remember his name, just no idea how to spell it) I can't excatly tell you which ones came from Thrift Stores because well. I own like 70 something black Cat/Black panther stuffed animals. (Hey they are my FAVORITE animal!)
There use to be a Thrift Store near my house that I loved. Sadly it went out of bussness after being open only 4 months at the most. They were great though. During their grand opening I got a HUGE stuffed Tiger for my brother, for the low low price of 25 cents! (specail grand opening prices, they went up REAL quick) This was one of those Tigers that could take up an entire coffie table!
They even had me on a list to call if they ever got a Hero Quest Board Game in. (and they had some great ones) Sadly They never did get one, and my search continues. (I'll have to hit ebay someday)
I've also helped my friends score big on occasion.
One friend found both VHS tapes of the Final Fantasy Anime OVA that was brought out a while ago. (Legend of the Crystals) I conviced him to buy them for about 2 bucks each, and good thing too. They so far are still not avalible on DVD that I know of.
Another fround an Orginal white bulky Gameboy for around five bucks. With my help he decided to take a chance even though we heard something rattling inside of it. He said if it didn't work he wasn't out of too much money.
Well it didn't work. In his hands. It was weird. I asked him to look at it and after trying to turn it on: Bling! Worked Perfectly.
I do believe the quote from him was: "I should expect as much from the videomaster." XD
The greatest find at a thift store for me though wasn't even MADE by me. A neighbor and friend of mine once found a Zelda game there and got it for me as a B-day presant. (He told me he found it at the thrift store which is how I know)
Imagine my surpise when he persented me The Legend of Zelda: Faces of Evil for the CDi in it's case with both inserts and instructions! This game goes for like 60-150 on Ebay! And I got it for free!
And I should stop. I think I talk to much. |
