These stores have slowly gained in popularity over the last few years. I've watched them grow too.

I always go for the books first. I've found great sci-fi/fantasy/horror books at these places for like 25 cents/50 cents. Also, I've found really good history and philosophy books.

The furniture is not bad either. Cool retro recliners and furniture that you see on the set of That 70s Show.....and microwave ovens for 5 bucks! WOW!

Ah the Thrift Store. I think the only thing I like more then a Thrift Store is a Flea Market. Which sadly I know of none around here. :/

Let's see, what finds have I found?

Old Plushie's of Garfeild and Odie

        Pokemon mini plushies.

        Pokemon Evee plushie

A Pikachu Pillow (Which I consider one of my greatest finds, being I didn't know such a thing was made, and I'm a big Pikachu fan)

Some great books. I was estactic to find a copy of "The Battle For the Castle"

A few videogames like Streets of Rage 2, and Rocket Knight Adventures.

A Phillips CDi system for only 12 bucks.

A Teddy Ruxpin. (Sadly his eyes don't work, and his jaw recently snapped off. Really hope I can fix him)

A few Teddy Ruxpin books w/cassttes. Sealed.

I recently got a Sealed X Band modem for the Sega Genesis. Turns out that's not all that rare, but as a gamer I'm still amazed at the find. :P

I've gotten alot of VHS, such as The Darkwing Duck series begining movie, some Teddy Ruxpin VHS, Mystic Knights of Tri Na Nog, Swan Princess, DuckTales, Tales Spin, TMNT, Street Sharks, Monster in my Pocket, and Earthworm Jim among others. Including a sealed GIJoe tape (Infested Island) and a sealed Mortal Kombat Movie that's completely in CGI. I'm still unsure as if I want to unseal them to watch.

I'm only 2 tapes away from having all Five Ronald Mc Donald cartoon tapes too.

I've also gotten ALOT and I do mean that, of Black Cat Stuffed animals. Including one of the Panther from Jungle Book. (I remember his name, just no idea how to spell it) I can't excatly tell you which ones came from Thrift Stores because well. I own like 70 something black Cat/Black panther stuffed animals. (Hey they are my FAVORITE animal!)

There use to be a Thrift Store near my house that I loved. Sadly it went out of bussness after being open only 4 months at the most. They were great though. During their grand opening I got a HUGE stuffed Tiger for my brother, for the low low price of 25 cents! (specail grand opening prices, they went up REAL quick) This was one of those Tigers that could take up an entire coffie table!

They even had me on a list to call if they ever got a Hero Quest Board Game in. (and they had some great ones) Sadly They never did get one, and my search continues. (I'll have to hit ebay someday)

I've also helped my friends score big on occasion.

One friend found both VHS tapes of the Final Fantasy Anime OVA that was brought out a while ago. (Legend of the Crystals) I conviced him to buy them for about 2 bucks each, and good thing too. They so far are still not avalible on DVD that I know of.

Another fround an Orginal white bulky Gameboy for around five bucks. With my help he decided to take a chance even though we heard something rattling inside of it. He said if it didn't work he wasn't out of too much money.

Well it didn't work. In his hands. It was weird. I asked him to look at it and after trying to turn it on: Bling! Worked Perfectly. :P

I do believe the quote from him was: "I should expect as much from the videomaster." XD

The greatest find at a thift store for me though wasn't even MADE by me. A neighbor and friend of mine once found a Zelda game there and got it for me as a B-day presant. (He told me he found it at the thrift store which is how I know)

Imagine my surpise when he persented me The Legend of Zelda: Faces of Evil for the CDi in it's case with both inserts and instructions! This game goes for like 60-150 on Ebay! And I got it for free!

And I should stop. I think I talk to much. :P

The DuckTales sleeping bag! Is it the one with the three nephews on it?

That's it. I'm going to have to track down some thrift shops around here. I'm a huge flea marketer, and I used to go to garage sales before I started working, but I haven't been to many thrift shops around here.

I collect Sega games, and Sega Saturn games, that are not sports, and are good are pretty rare to find in pawn shops. But I have made out like a bandit a few times....

            Legend of Oasis (!!)
Steep Slope Sliders (kind of expensive)
Resident Evil (It has ALWAYS attracted high, high prices)
            Backup cart (Ditto)

I've gotten a Sega CD Backup cart and Box and Cart Herzog Zwei for the Genesis for $3 each. And Beyond Oasis, in an Altered Beast SMS box. Funny.

I find the best used records at Salvation Army and Value Village. Lately I've gotten more into 45's. My favorite finds have been two Rolling Stones' 45s in exellent condition, "Paint it Black" and "Honky Tonk Woman" and a mono Jimi Herndrix single.

I've also gotten some great SNL and Dr. Katz compilation videos at Value Village.

Lol!!! lets go buy some pee-stained jeans, man I laughed when I saw that.
Anyway, a few months ago I found the original Limited Edition Gameboy, Complete in box. awesome condition, and it costed me 5 bucks!!! Bargain!!

On Saturday I got an original Merman figure, one of the Mac Tonights I had yet to rebuy (all my old toys are still with my mum), and a She-Ra card game.

They had a Centurians card game there as well which I might go back for in the weekend.

Oh, I just went the other day and found a 1984 Cheer Bear in good condition with her original box and one of those Schmid music boxes for the Lion King. It's Simba sitting on a grassy ledge, and it plays 'Circle of Life". Came with the original box and styrofoam, too. I paid $5 for the Care bear, $10 for the music box.

My best find though was one of those huge Simba plushes from the Disney Store who also works as a puppet. You can work his front paws or the head, or both (something I often have difficulty with). Still has all his tags from '93, too. $5 for him.
These aren't my rules. Come to think of it, I don't have any rules.

Some books I picked up today:

A MASK book, with holographic cover! Taking books to the extreme!

                        And my new bible:

Your thrift shops rock, ducktalesfan! I've looked in a couple around here and haven't found anything. I'm always looking for DuckTales, Gummi Bears and Disney Afternoon stuff.

We have large flea markets here, but Disney Afternoon items are really hard to come by. There's usually a greater chance of finding things in the summer because there are more vendors set up at the markets.

There's a couple of thrift stores I haven't been to, and I plan on checking one out after I get off of work tomorrow.

                              It was a dry run.

I'd like to track down the Dewey and Louie you posted a picture of. I have Huey already or else I would've bid on the auction. I have a collection of Disney ducks going - Donald, Daisy, DuckTales Scrooge, comic Scrooge, Huey, and Darkwing.... Dewey and Louie are the only two left I need to get.

I'm also collecting the Gummi Bears plush. I have them all but two.

Found this ALF Book & Tape set...

I used to have this set as a kid. Those Children's Library collections rocked.

Also today I had one of my best thrift shop finds ever...

A video full of 50s/60s toy commercials! All the old ladies in the shop were quite offended when I said "HOLY SHIT" after finding it.

Too bad RJ doesn't have 50s/60s sections, cos there's some great commercials on this tape. I like the title... "Nostalgia Video". I guess bootleg video was how Retro Junkies got their toy commercial fix before the Internet. :D

That video sounds awesome, what commercials did it have on it? I agree its too bad RJ doesn't go as far back as to what I consider actually "retro"

I've only watched about half of the video so far (it goes for ~2 hours), and it's been mostly commercials for Western toys, war toys, space toys, and dolls (Chatty Cathy, etc).

The GI Joe and Barbie commercials are pretty interesting. There's one introducing Ken, when he was first released.

I went out tonight to see if I could find anything worthy....not much. I ended up with a cassette tape of Kids Inc. songs for .49 which is better than nothing. And thats a pretty damn good price for beaing able to hear a pre-fergilicious rendition of "karma chameleon"
