Anyone see that Animaniacs cartoon that parodied MMPR? It can be seen in Vol. 3 on DVD. :)

Ok RJ, I'm not done yet. By now everyone at RJ knows I can get passionate at times over a tv show. Well the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is one of my favorites.
At first I watched to see my new sweetie babe Trini. Wanna break an old guy's heart, dump Trini! Oh yeah, I had it bad for Trini. In my mind Trini and I would hold hands over a Baskin-Robbins hot fudge sundae after every episode. Ahh, life is sweet!
And then I saw hot shot Zack. Bam! Watch my boy Zack busta move. Wow, could that Zack move like a cat! He was a living slinky, all business and no toy!
But what sealed the deal was Rita. Yes, Rita Repulsa! Everyone at RJ knows that action series sink or swim because of the villians. The right villian is GOLD, and Rita was gold to me.
What was up with that hair, horn, helmet, mixup mess on her head? Check out the freakazoid makeup job, could crack the tv screen. And her clothes!
Why the creepy, muu-muu like "no I'm not having a baby" maternity ugly gown?
Why? Because for Rita Repulsa it all worked. She was crazy ugly fun!
I had to tune in each week to see her look through that telescope, blink and smile that Friday the 13th smile! LMAO!
If the Christmas stealin Grinch had a mom, it was Rita!
Guess it's just my lot in life to love a series only to watch it morph before my eyes.

Supposidly, the woman that played Rita also had a role in the ending of mystic force, as like the magic queen, or mother of magic, or something like that

I find it pretty hypocritical how anyone can say that the PR of now is bad or lame, when the original, imo, was pretty much no better and looked worse. It was so obvious which was the American made footage and which was the Japanese.

These people who complain about the series aren't being very fair, imo. At least with me, I always felt that the premise of the show as a whole was pretty...meh, but I can admit that it looks better now graphic wise. They're just being nostalgic, like those who claim that everything that came out in the 80s is better than anything from the 90s and higher, when looking back, that wasn't all that great either.

Even when you outgrow a tv show it's good to know that an original character reappears in later episodes or reprise their role in a movie.

One thing I will never forget: No one involved in the original power rangers really expected the show to be such an immediate amd overwhelming success. TV executives, media critics, tv watchdog groups, educational organizations, government overseers and tv station managers watched in awe as the numbers for MMPR exceeded all expectations. When asked by a CBS tv media critic in 1996 to explain power rangers mania in the USA, Haim Saban was at a loss for words! Years later the popularity of MMPR is still astonishing.

                  Question for all RJ members:
As the Power Rangers franchise chugs along season after season, how many of the original characters appeared in cameo roles or got involved in production behind the scenes?

A few years ago, Austin St. John hosted a Power Rangers history show, and during this feature they showed the never-before aired first episode where there WAS no Trini, but instead a hispanic girl who was fought as well as Tommy. She wasn't lame and awkward out of costume, like Kimberly was...she was awesome. The episode also showed punches and kicks to the face...a Saban no-no. I wish I'd recorded it. Oh yeah, and Zordon was called "Zartron". lol

That was actually a showing of the unaired pilot. You can see why it was never related to the real storyline, most of the non-japanese stuff looked like Garbage (The way "Zorton" looked, the bowling alley scene, etc.) as it was merely testing the waters.

As for the life of power rangers, I used to be a fanatic of it, loved MMPR season 1, and Zeo. I watched the other ones they showed on Toon Disney, but they're just...bad. Super Sentai outclasses Power Rangers by FAR. If you want to watch a good live action sentai series, watch Dairanger, Fiveman, Zyuranger. Those are Very, Very, good watches.

MMPR was and always will be the best in the series.

I just wish they would release it on dvd so I don't have to sit through the other sagas on toon disney until they start back at MMPR. I never liked Super Sentai, I liked cheesy power rangers better..but a good Sentai that everyone has to watch is Kamen Rider.

But back to MMPR, I secretly cried when Trini, Zack, and Jason left the show  when Aisha, Rocky, and Adam came it just wasnt the same but I felt like I still needed to support Tommy, Kimberly, and Billy. When Cat came I got pissed off because I knew she was becoming the new pink ranger and she was gonna get with Tommy who was my biggest crush on the show and Kimberly was my favorite so I had to completly stop watching the show.
