You will download the emulator(s) and game images off a central server from Nintendo (for a small fee)

(the only thing i hope is that it uses linux, the server)

What I heard about the PS3 is amazing and if it's true there will be no contest that PS3 will stand out alone. Especially buy it's price alone

Why wasting that much of money if you can grab a hooker for 14$ and have real life fun?. This is so sad

From what game developers who have seen the technology and are making games for it have said, the PS3 will not be any more amazing than the 360 in terms of graphics or physics, and will be substantially less amazing than the Wii in terms of providing a new game experience. That's a lot more credible than some rumor you might have heard.

Sony has a proven history of lying about their consoles before release in order to create a buzz. Before the release of the PS2, they were claiming it was practically a supercomputer, and that their "Emotion Engine" chip would completely change gaming forever. They made claims that it would be difficult to export the PS2 from Japan because it was such a powerful computer that it would be dangerous in the wrong hands. It would be hard to defend anyone who still believes any of that. The PC I already had was at least as powerful as a PS2, which ended up being less powerful than Gamecube or Xbox. Worse, Sony actually released fake screenshots and videos of PS2 games that looked far better than the real thing, claiming that's what the games would really look like.

Last year, Sony again released some amazing pictures and videos of upcoming PS3 games, and promised us that they were 100% real, and that the games would look just as good when the system came out in 2006. This year at E3, there were playable demos of some of these very same games. Surprise surprise, they look nowehere near as good as last year's "real" footage. In fact, they don't even look any better than the Xbox 360's games. I guess some of us haven't learned our lesson from the past though.

The Wii is may not be as powerfull as either of them, but it will win the console wars. So, out of PS3 & 360, i would think that the Xbox 360 will be a better console. The PS3's will not have as much sales, the blue ray is going down. & Sony is saying that there will be no used games to be sold anywhere.

That's a rumor. Sony has repeatedly denied this. Then again, we can't always trust what Sony says, so all we can do is wait and see if the games start showing up on GameStop's used game shelves or not.

I'm not a big fan of Sonys corporate politics, given its past track record of being a monopolizing bully. It seems they're always trying to corner the market with proprietary technology and now that they have alot stronger control in the market they're even trying o force it upon us. Take UMDs for example. Completely overpriced and very unpracticle especially when you can do the same thing with their memory cards and you'll notice how it takes huge store shelve space even though it's not necessarily a demanded item. Since the 70's they've been trying to do the same stratagy.

                            Beta vs. VHS
                            MD vs. CD
                            SDDS vs. Dolby/DTS
                            SACD vs. DVDMusic
                            now
                            BluRay vs. HDDVD

Granted, the technology for most of those is better than its competitors, but since it's proprietary, there will be royalties paid to Sony which of course will translate to consumers. In all of those wars, Sony has lost. But we'll wait to see if BluRay will win. As for the PS3, who knows?

On a side note, I do like Sonys style in their electronics and I liken the PS3 to being the highend spectrum of gaming. Sortof like Lamborghini for cars or more accurately Alienware for PCs.

I don't know...personally I'd rather invest in hardware that will allow me to do far more than just play games and movies. Some of these next gen consoles are shifting from affordable to just plain ridiculous. Even if the argument of "yeah, but..but..but you can mod it to surf the web and play mp3's and install linux!", more money gets dumped into it...wouldn't it just be easier to build a good PC?

For what it is, Wii looks entertaining and affordable.
