When I was a kid, I had an Atari 2600. We had many games for it that were a lot of fun. A few years ago, my wife bought me a 2600 for Christmas and I've amassed a big collection since. Are there other Atari lovers here?

            Atari... ahhh... the golden ages!

I remember it fondly. I enjoyed lots of their games.

But in retrospect, when I go back & play some of their games I owned (mostly via emulation since it's a pain in the buptkis to dig out the system & games)... I find them quite uninteresting. Not just in graphics & sound, but overall gameplay was just too straight forward, simple, and dull.

Yet... back in the day (early to mid 80's), it was 'da bomb. I guess it was more the fond memories of how fun it was to play 'em with alone & with friends. Games were simple to understand, impossible to master (now I just think too simple, too boring).

So I AM a fan, but my attention wouldn't hold now-a-days to any of those retro games.

Straightforward and simple is the charm of it! :(
Afterall, that's what gives Wario Ware and Geometry Wars their popularity.

My first console was an Atari. Played that so much I think I actually fried it, so it had to be thrown out. :(

Years later, when I got back into retro gaming, I picked up a fully functional Atari 2600 with all the controllers and 30 games for $15.00 :D

However, two years ago when Ivan hit, my house was flooded and my console was lost again. :(

I could have lost the Sega, Colecovision, and all the Nintendos and would have been ok with that. Losing the Atari again really hurt.

I own a light sixer 2600 and 51 games. The rarest game I have is Strategy X (only a 5 on the scale, though.)

I've seen an atari at a thrift store, but the people there said it was broken, and I played atari flashback, but the games were very bland and didn't hold my attention. But atari must have the stuff back then since it started so many classics.

The 2600 was awesome. I can remember walking home from school with a friend and debating whether his older brother would let us into his room so we could play Mario Bros., Phoenix, Pac-Man and Combat.

Awww, c'mon guys! YAR'S REVENGE is where it's at! :D I sneakily stayed up quite late playing that puppy on many a school night... Made it all the way to the Grey level, don't think I ever got past it. I was pleased as punch to see it was included in the recent Atari collection for PS2!
