You know, I've never been so devoted to a series to know when exactly a show jumped the shark, in fact I don't even know when most of them ended. :?

Well there is the Transformers movie and that's cause they tried introducing a whole advanced sci-fi like character line up. I don't mind killing off characters, just don't replace megatron with the likes of galvatron and optimus prime with the generic runamus prime (sp?).

ER- (I will probably get ripped for this) when every episode became the "must see event of the year"

Coach- (hate to disagree Blue Blur) When they went to coach the Orlando Breakers

              Seinfeld
              Spin City

I totally agree with all those except Coach. I was really surprised how Spin City survived after the loss of Fox. I would add to that list...

              Star Trek TNG
              Quantum Leap
              Magnum PI

Coach I was absolutely expecting to fail after the move, but it still managed to keep it's charm. The "Outbreak" episode, the Barbie collection, the Super Bowl (or was it playoffs?), the drug bust... it still worked for me.

              Oh, and another Shark Jumper:

              Pinky and The Brain: Elmyra

When it became Pinky, Elmyra, and The Brain and instead of trying to take over the world they were trying to get away from her (in order to take over the world).

yeah my friends don't agree with me on the Coach thing. It is just my opinion not gospel.

Another friend thought ER jumped when they lost most the original cast.

I think Pauly Shore actually bit it on that show he tried to do about the comedy club recently. Before that he was a fantastic memory, then it was a bad joke.

the episode of the sneek brothers where joey sneek went into "the real world" and was played by some awful actor, I thought they would have at least got someone who could do that crazy talking!

cartoons always disappoint when they turn real life in an episode!

I was okay with Galvatron from the movie, the one from the cartoon series sounded like a wimp. And Rodimus Prime was constantly whining about not being a great leader like Optimus Prime.

I feel I need to point out that it's kinda hard for a show to jump the shark in it's final episode. "Jump the shark" indicates a plot point or setting/character change that causes the show to die....slowly or quickly. But if a show is already on it's last episode it, in my opinion, cant jump the shark. It just had a lame last episode, like seinfeld

some shows I think jumped the shark...
                            Talk Soup-when greg Kinner left
power rangers- "Power Rangers: Ninja Dino Time Force Delta"
                            Man Show- OG cast left
                            Roseanne- roseanne wins lottery/dan leaves
                            Cosby Show- Raven's Character introduced.
Murphy Brown- Has Child/spat with Dan Qualle ( Highest rated show of the series but the show it self went down hill after that)
Alias- Rembaldi crap/ sydney leaving the show next season
70's show- Hyde's dad is black/all the good cast members are leaving
                            X-Files- The Movie, nuff said
Joey- the moment they decided we needed a "Friends" spin-off
Saturday Night Live- jumped it so many times and recovered just to jump it again. amazing its still on the air...god damn jimmy fallon
Mystery Science Theater 3000- when it moved to Sci-Fi Channel. The making fun of the movie part was still ok, its was the outragious plot of the crew that caused its demise. and they lost some pivitol people on the writing staff
Happy Days- when Fonzie jumped the shark (or in my opinion cha-chi, god damn scott baio  )

                            more to come.......

Actually it was the season fenaly i believe in the 6th season, where they solved EVERYTHING that was questioned in the entire series and then expected to be able to keep the show going. And then Mulder was abducted and replaced with that guy from Terminator. They made a big deal out of it too like HEY LOOK EVERYONE WE GOT THAT GUY FROM TERMINATOR COME WATCH! but, you can't get rid of the star and solve the conspericy and expect it to live.

That and I hated how it all focused on the conspiracy of the aliens at that point. Part of the coolness of the aliens was that it was so mysterious you could never get close and had so many other freaky things going on besides.

I guess you could argue that the introduction of that creepy little kid could also be the "jump the shark" moment as well (X-files)

the jump the shark web site biggest vote went to the movie, but wow there are alot of others too!!! this show was just plain doomed fdrom the begining.
