The "Virtua" series really was a star point for SEGA...
VirtuaCop, VirtuaRacing, VirtuaFighter, Virtua Striker, Virtua-On... etc.
House of the Dead was a great series in the arcade.
SEGA had some of the most innovative arcade games with G-LOC, AfterBurner because of the unique cabinets & arcade machines
The SEGA Bass fishing had the while fishing controller, they had a SEGA Wave Race game, Top Skater, and I even think a SEGA Snowboard or Ski game (I forgot the name)... each with their own individuality (a realistic wave-racer, a skateboard, and on skiis or a snowboard, respectively).
Some of the best SEGA arcade games that I personally think really defined SEGA as the Kind of the arcade are:
-- AfterBurner II (Great original arcade cabinet that defined how to really interact with a game)
-- Alien Storm (It's like Streets-of-Rage in an alien form)
-- Alien 3 (Good use of the movie license, although I liked Aliens from Konami better at the arcade)
-- Altered Beast (Altered Beast II for PS2, I can't vouch for because I never got to play it since I don't own a PS2, but I always wanted it).
-- Choplifter (seemed better on the SMS than at the arcade)
-- Columns series (Great MAME game, awesome awesome Genesis releases)
-- Congo Bongo (some call it a Donkey Kong rip-off... I beg to differ)
-- Daytona USA & Daytona 2 (Define arcade racing)
-- Die Hard Arcade
-- E-Swat (C'mon... weren't you itchin to play it thru until you got into that robocop-like suit?? I know I'd put in a token until I did if I failed to the first time).
-- Enduro Racer (Pre-HangOn, and I was pissed the SMS version was crap, but was a fun arcader)
-- Super Monaco GP (I spent UBER-tokens on this game. I was amazed by the graphics on this racer)
-- Galaxy Force 2 (Similar to Afterburner, but in space)
-- Golden Axe (action/adventure in the arcade... I ALWAYS chose the normal dude just 'cause the lil' blue containers didn't take too long to fill, but didn't fill too quickly)
-- Super Hang-On (The speakers on the arcade machine looked like a stereo system, despite tooting out MIDI tunes... fun game too)
-- House of the Dead I, II, & III (zombie fun with the gun... very enjoyable & you had choices where to go based on your technique)
-- Jurassic Park/Lost World (I just like the chase scenes, and it had a really cool arcade cabinet where you could pull the curtains closed, but can also watch from behind)
-- Moonwalker (It was actually...... fun...... then it got hard, and then I gave up)
-- Outrun, Outrunners, & Outrun 2 (The series defined racing in its time, and the latest was just fun with drifting)
-- PowerDrift (Man, I went head-over-heels every time I saw this game in the arcade... I LOVED loved the graphics on this game because of how the terrian changed with the bridges & such... it was soo cool... but I'm a little disappointed in the MAME translation).
-- Rad Mobile 1 & 2 (It was... strange... I liked the moving sonic, but a cross-country race was different for this racer)
-- SEGA Bass Fishing (See top)
-- SEGA Rally (It was better for Dreamcast, but still fun in the arcade)
-- Shadow Dancer (I loved the dog in the game. It was like the sequal to Shinobi, but added more with the dog)
-- Shinobi (the original & still stands the test-of-time)
-- Space Harrier (way fun & an EXCELLENT Genesis translation)
-- Star Wars Arcade (Cool game for Star Wars in the arcade)
-- ThunderBlade (They REALLY used their scaling techniques to the max, whether it be on the top view or the 1st person view... it was great fun... until the Genesis release, which sucked).
-- Top Skater (See top)
-- Turbo (THE original racer that put racing into a whole new perspective (3D)... I loved the crash sound, as it was just so loud in the arcade)
-- Virtua Series (see top)
-- Zaxxon (3/4 perspective game that was REALLY hard for me at first because I couldn't get the controls right... and now... it's fun, but it's still hard).
-- Wonderboy (Remember the NES ripoff from Hudson Soft? You can't beat the original)
