I was never really a MK fan, since well Street Fighter has always been a better game. MK was slower I was not awed by the realistic graphics and the fighting engine was not very imaginative. I am a big fan of the new ones though with the 2 fighting styles and the weapon style.

I never really liked Street Fighter that much, because its too fast, and there arent as many cool moves to pull off, and the ones that you can are more complicated than the MK fighting. and theres no finishing moves! and the visuals and audio arent as good, and there are only a few good characters

for me Mortal kombat 2 for Snes was my favourite,
i used to have a tournament with my friends when i was in high school and challenge all of them, although i loved the arcade version of MK 1 cuz of the real actors and the actress (sonya) that they used ...
Mortal kombat 1 & 2 had easier fatalities that could be performed easier.

i thought it was cool to mix fatalities in MK2, for example u can choose to be shang tsung and change into sub-zero then do half of his fatality (the freezing fireball) then morph into another character and do that characters fatality, it was simply awesome!!!

only if you received that SNES birthday present from your brother..
you asked for street fighter 2 turbo. he got mortal kombat 1 since they came out the same time....

                MK1 stole it!

coolest game music, that voice throughout the game (kinda like the movie saw), last but not least.. MK1 was the one used real-life animation.

There was some kind of spam post here. I think the mods deleted it.

I've never played any of them past Deadly Alliance, and I can honestly say, that I never had the opportunity to play much of MK1, though I'd love to just to fight against Shang Tsung.

That aside, out of this list, I'll have to go with MK2 and I wouldn't mind playing Mortal Kombat Armegedon, since it supposedly has every single character that's appeared in the game.

The worst one, imo, was MK4. Too easy.

I had to vote for MK3/Ultimate since there was not a spot for MK Trilogy. Trilogy for PSX will always be my favorite. I would turn off Shang Tsung's morphs and any screens I deemed not needed to kill loading time. It was the old version of the upcoming Armageddon.

MK II was the ultimate achievement of the series, and was, IMO, one of the single greatest sequals in the history of gaming. I mean, the jump between MK I and MK II was just astonishing in all reguards. So many new characters, so many more finishers (two fatalities instead of only one, babalities, friendships, animalities...), the graphics, the gore, the moves, the gameplay, they were all just JAW DROPPING when it came out.

I have my doubts about Armaggeddon though. I've seen things about it that look exceedingly stupid, that have no place in Mortal Kombat (fighting in the air while flying, thats literally nothing more than them moving your character's Z-axis a few feet up).

I hope the character creator is good though. And I mean really good, with tons of options.

The original MK still does it for me. Got this one last month: http://www.jakkstvgames.com/mortalkombat.html and my daughter likes it 8)

I think that the original Sega Megadrive/Genesis Mortal Kombat was the best, it seemed so... Original, lol but seriously there was something about it, Maybe the sound effects or the music? Either way it was so compelling, anyway you look at it, and also I agree with the author of the thread; darthmunk
because his/her opinions about MK2 were almost exact to mine.
